How to be able to reach DWC from outside homenetwork
-
Hi guys,
May somebody tell me how to set the DWC or rather how to realise the DWC reachable secured from outside the own home network?
Many thanks

@topenga
VPN comes to my mind (Virtual Private Network). With an SBC, there are similar tools (SAMBA?), but I haven't tried it myself.Do you really want to control the printer or just check? Maybe an IP-Camera would be better suited then?

Many thanks for your replay.
O.k. VPN does that mean that I have to buy software to be able "tunnel" my data through the www?
What about speed? Is there any significant performance lose?
To to your question:
Honestly it makes just sence to observe the print process trough the cam and maybe start a print and stop the process when problems occures.I guess that just that will be necessary
Many thanks in advance

@topenga The usual approach is to alter your firewall/router so that the DWC port is forwarded to the outside world as a different port.
-
Find out your home network public IP address by going to Whatsmyip.com or similar web sites. This may randomly change depending on your provider.
-
Forward port 80 of the DWC to port ? (say 8324) of the home network. - this is a security concern so I'd unforward it when you're finished
-
You may need to enable CORS on the DWC -- M586 C"*"
-
From outside, browse to my-public-ip:8324

@markz many thanks for that suggestion/information. Will try that as well how to easy and fast after ending observation of the printer to ensure the port again.
Will let you inform how it works
Many thanks
