      Hi *,

I try to run 3 SK6812 RGBNW LEDs via the Neopixel port on my Mini5+ without any success. H hope that somebody can help me here. (Fw: 3.4)

I have measure +5V on the newpixels so I guess that the jumpering for the 5V supply is correct.

      I tried things like that:

      M150 X3
      M150 R255 B255 P255 S20 X3

To turn on the leds but without success, the neopixels remain dark. I tried X1 and some other parameters but nothing has changed.

      Any ideas?

      Cheers, Chriss

@chriss You may need F0 on the second M150 after the X3 command is set.

@chriss On my Mini and 6HC I used a separate 5vdc power supply. The mini may not have enough power to power them.

@chriss The Mini needs an external 5vdc to power the neopixel.

My understanding is that the Mini5+ can deliver 3A. I guess that this would be enough for one neopixel I'm playing with at the moment...

The Mini5+ is limited to 1A total from the 5V rail including the internal current draw.

                  From https://docs.duet3d.com/Duet3D_hardware/Duet_3_family/Duet_3_Mini_5+_Hardware_Overview#description-of-connections:

This is to connect and power NeoPixel LED strips (DotStar LED strips are not supported) . Connect the DO pin to Neopixel DI. External 5V must be supplied to the "EXT 5V" header to power the NeoPixel array, they cannot be powered from the onboard regulator.

Got it.. I had the hope that I can drive 3 tiny LEDs without a external source... well well....

@chriss if it's just 3 LEDs then you could pick up +5V from one of the IO connectors and feed it into the 5V_EXT input.

Ahhhhhh... that's a very, very good idea... I need to check for a free 5V pin on the IO ports..... I guess that I need to feed GND too.

@chriss no, just the 5V. The GND on the Neopixel connector will be sufficient.
