Hi All, I just finished assembling a Voron 0.1 using a Duet Mini 5+, MeanWell 24V PSU and a set of motors from Stepper Online (this set). I'm getting quite a loud hiss on the Z motor, generally all the time, but of course way more noticeable when it's idle.

Nothing I know to do seems to have helped. Tried tweaking the motor current, idle factor and idle time. I've also tried adjusting M569 for that particular driver to switch between SpreadCycle and StealthChop. I've also tried disabling interpolation for that driver. Nothing seemed to have an effect.

    Here's my config.g

    Anyone have any suggestions?

@blt3dp have you tried swapping the motor/wiring with another to narrow down the cause?

I can’t say I’ve tried that. It’s one of those motors with a detachable cable, I might be able to try that.

But the motor seems to be working fine during homing and movement, just makes this hiss all the time. I’d have thought that if wiring were bad, it wouldn’t be working right.

Swapped in another motor, used the same wiring, and config mostly (only changed steps per mm and current) and it's perfectly silent. While moving and while at idle. Of course I can't permanently use this motor as it doesn't have a short leadscrew attached. But something I noticed when I was looking at the original motor. When I put a multimeter on the pins to double check what pins were the ends of a coil, the beep from my multimeter would be scratchy/choppy, whereas on every other motor I've checked it beeps clear and steady. I'm starting to think it's something with this particular motor.

Well, LOL. I ended up cutting the leadscrew off of the "bad" motor and attached it to the other motor I had tested with. It's completely silent now.
