        @fusedeep

        Open it directly by clicking the file that is already in g-filetype and choose some text editor (that your PC asks) and use regular save to save it with the filetype the file already has.

          @visionary that seems to be a dot g filename?

          Am not getting that option.

            Bit of a disaster and I have one more piece to print!

            AFAIK I have never had passwords on fusedeep or my point6 machine/M2

            After laptop trouble, the laptop started to ask for passwords, I don't have any.

            I have directly edited the sd card to add a password, but this is now simply not working.

            Currently all my machines are out of action!'

            I knew relying on wifi was a bad idea...

            What the heck has happened?

              Try opening some text editor and open the file from it. Then save the file after changes.

                Do you get access to your WiFi at all, or has your laptop "forgotten" its own WiFi password?

                  @infiniteloop

                  I managed to get my phone hotspot sorted by finding the phone key.

                  Neither of my duets even have a password. I am panicking/annoyed. I have wasted 2 hrs on this today and have a show to be ready for...

                  The laptop never usually asks for anyhting and just connects. I have no passwords set up in the config file. What is duet netwrok security key?

                        @infiniteloop I use adhoc wifi to duets but the laptop seems to be trying to get the key for a central router.'

                        There isn't one!

                          @fusedeep Can you go to a web page, like www.google.com? Are you sure the laptop is logged in to the WiFi?

                                Normally: none. @Visionary told you how to set/change the PW in config.g on your SD card. He's right - I just advise you to put the following lines into your config (if they are missing):

                                M551 P"reprap"
                                M552 S1						; Turn network on

                                Setting the password (with M551) to "reprap" tells the Duet not to ask for a password at all.

                                If you've done this, you can be sure that any requests for a password originate from another source - router or laptop.

                                  @stephen6309 I don't think it is this.

                                  It was all fine, for months until my laptop wifi crashed out.

                                  Now it is asking for a network key for my duets. they don't afaik have one!

                                  It is a genuine pita.

                                    @infiniteloop I did exactly this and it made no difference. I put a new PASSWORD via and sd card reader and notepad edit and it would not connect.

                                    The laptop is asking for a SECURITY NETWORK KEY

                                    This is incorrect,

                                    This is a laptop /adhoc issue and not duet as such.

                                    Though my android phone won;t connect either, but i also never tried that before.

                                      Well, that's not the Duet. I think your laptop messed some things up…

                                      Remember: Don't panic! IMHO, you have two options:

                                      1. get your laptop to connect to the router (no idea how, sometimes you can find the initial password on the back of the router). Or you reset the router and re-configure it from scratch.
                                      2. configure the Duet in WiFi access point mode (you got the proper link from @Stephen6309), then, try to connect from your laptop or your phone.

                                      BTW: do you happen to have a PanelDue attached to at least one of your printers?

                                        @infiniteloop I have a screen connected to my big printer.

                                        I have no central router, there is no landline here. only adhoc to printers and a hotspot from phone.

                                        The printers do not use the phone as an adhoc router.

                                        Will try and add gcode to sd card and get printing...

                                          The printers do not use the phone as an adhoc router.

                                          That's ok, they don't want to connect with the web.

                                          I have no central router, there is no landline here.

                                          So you don't have any router at all? Can I assume that you've set up your laptop as an access point?

                                          I have a screen connected to my big printer.

                                          Can you enter commands into the console from this one?

                                            @infiniteloop No router.

                                            Both duet boards in use always connect adhoc to laptop, no key needed (unless i entrede a key early on and no lobger have it. no gcode passwords in use.

                                            I added a gcode password cia sd card direct and laptop would still not connect.

                                            Big printer now running via sd card gcode transfer and orint from touchscreen.

                                            Either there was an old netwrk security key i entered once (and no longer have) or the laptop is now demanding one and quite possibly not working proper as ad hoc/password, or not.

                                            I appreciate duets do not need internet access. They don't have it either!
