      @T3P3Tony

      The original igus steppers were rated at five point something amps. apparently. Its the 600 x 600 room with the very deep top beam:

      I got a lot of conflicting info early on, so swapped them out for some decent regular nema 23.

      Am pretty sure it is just too chunky and have given up on it. I'll try it on a duet and if not swap it for a buzz automation set up. It's wasted too much of my time time at this point tbh.

      Substantially quicker and cheaper to change the gantry than keep chasing my tail. especially now with losing the painful marlin settings.

      I canged the z/E1 output MA from 800 to 1600 and it is much happier (0nly cost me 100gbp to not fix this!).

      Seems it needed more current. will relube and see how she runs!

    • RE: Hello, am new here but not a newbie as such.

      Morning all, thanks for your help recently. Have been distracted by a recent major show of 2 of my sculpture pieces (each partially 3dprinted) at Tate Late:

      Son.im/Shhare

      Son.im/Quotem

      However...now back to Fusedeep!

      Regarding the DUET wifi/Ethernet. Not all my laptops have Ethernet ports and am not always going to gave wifi hub.

      Can either board just have gcode slotted in via SD card (appreciate both have an SD card firmware file also) . If I understand it correctly, the gcode of a print and firmware settings go in on the same SD card and it fires up. that would seem to be what i need?

      If I know that no matter what I can use a screen to start a print via SD card (regardless of wifi/ethernet) then I will probably go wifi (though 2 duet experienced friends advised against it!).

      your advice appreciated. Bit conflicted currently but like the simple on card option with screen. Reliable if i am in the middle of a field, and yest, this is very possible.

    • RE: directions wrong and no zero...

      @phaedrux

      Thanks

      Led removed from z endstop and all rehashed. Board back to life!

      Weird

      Only thing is z home works but does not do slow 5mm return as per other axis.

      Fans put to 0 for work piece and 1 for extruder seem to be happy.

      Assigning extruder trickier. It is heating up fine by web control but not un greying on web control extrude buttons, even past 180 degrees...

      Nearly there!

      Sorry if I was painful. It's been a really crappy week and I thought this would be the simple bit...

      @phaedrux

      Last thing (except for no z home bounce check)

      I just put T0 at the end, below wifi line and it now let's me extrude!

      Is that correct?

    • Nearly there! Temp and bounce (Board not borked)

      Hi,

      Thanks all for help so far. I was despairing!

      Last few things;

      1/ when I cancel a print, bed and ext remain hot. Would like them to both shut down on cancel, assume that is sensible?

      2/
      Z home, works great but does not do the slow 5mm return check. Should it? How do I enable in homez please?

      3/bed heats up, then extruder in order. Is that correct? Can they both heat in parallel to save time?

      Seems to be it currently...

      Thanks Rich.

      Ps. Am feeling less desolate now!

      @droftarts

      Yes, exactly as Ian said.

      Thank you so much everyone above for your constructive suggestions and comments.

      I have now stopped sobbing into my keyboard!

      And written the password clearly on each machine.

      🙂

      Re: Adding mains 6amp 240v heated bed to Duet2 wifi

      Hi all,

      Does anyone have suggestions on which ssr to use with a duet2 and a suitable fuse system for a keenovo bed at 6A iirc.

      Decided to add heated bed to

    • Tony at Oxford/ heating issue/240v bed control .

      Hi,

      My very useful printer

      Son.im/fusedeep

      Is generally running fab, however it has an intermittent issue. I bumped into Tony at smrrf/Oxford and we briefly discussed it. Cheers Tony. Was a great show!

      When heating from cold it will quite often bork out and the warning says;

      Hot end heating too slow at 1. 2 degrees /second etc

      This trips a fault and stops heating.

      A pain. Need to widen the heating safety variable. There is no fault with the heater.

      Also, can I run a 240v heated bed via my duet2 wifi?

      Will look at my post on this when I work out how to search my own posts!

      Regards Rich

    • RE: MakerGear M2 z issue/board Z drive?

      Hmmm

      Have saved and checked the new config file and still have a weak as a kitten Z axis.

      Please note, the set up worked perfectly for many months then suddenly became weak.

      I replaced the entire Z stepper direct from makergear (the old z steppers were known to fail after a decade) and have checked continuity on all 4 stepper cables, all good.

      This is now a new z stepper and re assigned as above, but with exact same weakness issue!!!!!!

      What is the max current I can set for the duet wifi board for a stepper drive channel, maybe the z set up is stiffer and needs more power (only thing that makes sense)?

      Cheers Richard
