      I converted my CoreXY printer to IDEX which maxed out my 7 drivers on my main Duet 3 Mini 5+, and now i wish i add 2 more stepper drivers. i use 2 toolboards for the IDEX carriages. I would like to add 2 more extruders mounted stationary as an multi media unit, so i was looking to buy an expansion 3HC.

      Is this the right approach to expand my system? Does it make sense to keep my Duet 3 Mini 5+ as the center of my system or is there inherent limitations using it? (i only use a medium size 3D printer so my needs arent much bigger)

      How do i connect the mini to the expansion board via can bus when i already have 2 toolboards 1LC wired in series? do i buy a can wire and crimp on the connector?

      EDIT: is there a nomenclature key to understand what HCL, HC, CL all mean for each model of Duet 3?

        How do you have the mini5 and toolboards wired currently? I assume you have the toolboards daisy chained? If you add a 3HC I would think you could simply insert it between the mini5 and the first toolboard.

          @Phaedrux yes you are correct, i have the CAN-FD wired in series:

          Mainboard --> toolboard 1 --> toolboard 2

          so the 3HC cannot be at the end of the circuit but it must be somewhere in the middle?

            Yes, as I say, insert the 3HC between the mini5 and the first toolboard. The 3HC has a can_in and can_out port, just like the toolboards.

              @Phaedrux thanks, i just placed my 3HC order. wasnt quite sure if that was the optimal model to go with, but it seems like it is. and will get significant expansion.
