      Hi there,

i am currently using all 10 Stepper driver outputs on my Duet 2 Wifi + Duex5.
As the v0.11 Duex 5 has two/three additional outputs for external drivers i am wondering how to use them as the product description says all in all this combination can use 12 Stepper motors.
I need the two extra ports for pre feed extruders for my idex printer as 10kg spools each are probably causing to much wear on my extruders.
Currently i made a workaround running the extruder and pre feed extruder wired in parallel but this leads to the pre feed extruder in extruding 0,5-1% too much filament.
      The steppers are identical.

Is there any daughterboard for the duex which has two additional stepper drivers?

      Thanks,
      Timo

@timoschuett You can't use the external driver outputs AND the internal driver outputs on the Duex5; it supports one or the other, up to a maximum of 5 drives, of which 3 can be external.

The Duet 2 supports two more drives connected to CONN_LCD. See https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Connecting_hardware/Motors_connecting_external

@droftarts thanks, now i found it in the documentation with your info.
Is it possible to use an Duet 3 Mini 2+ if wired accordingly? Or are there any "plug and play" expansions out there?

@timoschuett The plug-in boards (Mini 2+ and Maestro expansion board) need a UART connection to program the drivers, but from what I remember Duet 2 can't program them for drivers 11 and 12.

I think there was someone who did a breakout board for CONN_LCD, but I can't find it now.

@timoschuett the BTT EXP MOT may work

Owns various duet boards and is the main wiki maintainer for the Teamgloomy LPC/STM32 port of RRF. Assume I'm running whatever the latest beta/stable build is
