    printer config 6HC + 1LC + inductive scan probe, SBC RPI5

I came to the printer this morning after a night of printing and it was in an interesting state. The print was finished but incomplete. The hotend was still at operating temperature, the tool fan was on, the heated bed was off, the printer was parked in the correct position at the end of the print. According to the print, there was an interruption somewhere around 70 percent of the Gcode.

So I took a picture of what was on the monitor/console.

    error.png

It looks like the tool board is frozen but the DIAG LEDs are flashing correctly. M122 listing:

@PetrKroupa I've asked @dc42 to have a look at the M122 reports. I can see there are some errors in the CAN section of the 6HC M122 report before reset, which may have been caused by the 1LC not responding:

      === CAN ===
      Messages queued 2239549, received 2369863, lost 0, ignored 0, errs 300132, boc 8
Longest wait 3ms for reply type 6061, peak Tx sync delay 65241, free buffers 50 (min 47), ts 356651/356593/0
Tx timeouts 0,0,53,0,0,4 last cancelled message type 30 dest 127

The M104 error may have been that the 1LC disconnected, and temperature was not reported to the mainboard, and caused the job to be cancelled. Though the 1LC had become unresponsive, it should just hold temperature when disconnected, which it seems to have done.

The bootloader on the 1LC is old (2.3, from 2021-01-26), so it is not reporting the last error. Could you update the bootloader, then it may show the error if it happens again. See https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/RepRapFirmware/Updating_bootloader

@droftarts - good point. Many thanks.

I try update bootloader but it fails. 1LC make 5 or 6 fast blink and nothing happend. Still have 2.3 version. I allso try older version, but with no luck. I try it on bouth printers with same result.

        Ideas?

@PetrKroupa I'll check if it works with my Mini 5+ and 1LC, with RRF 3.6.0-beta.4. Might be a bug. Can you post the commands you're using, and the response from the console? Make sure you're using the files from https://github.com/Duet3D/Duet3Bootloader/releases/tag/2.11

@droftarts ok, everyone can make a mistake. 🙂 So I downloaded all 3 BIN files and saved them in the firmware folder. I thought of trying the update on 3HC first, which went through without any problems. But it doesn't work on 1LC.

            console log here:

I update to 3.6.0 RC1 AND change CAN cable between 6HC and 1LC. I think I read somewhere that beta.4 had a problem with the combination of SBC and console error reporting.

It seems that replacing the CAN cable solved the problem. It's strange but after about 30 hours of printing the problem did not appear. So please close this topic. Thanks for your help.

@PetrKroupa I've found that pre-crimped JST ZH connectors and tails sometimes have bad crimps. Perhaps your cable had one.

Updating the bootloader on a 1LC doesn't work in the 3.6.0-rc.1 build. There is a new firmware build at https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/y03luwmbypirbxncla3rk/AAJFLPFsVdFylemyhkXsAac?rlkey=7cq4svp4rzl2ztdffpzq2ghjk&dl=0 that corrects this. The changes in this build are listed at https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/wiki/Changelog-RRF-3.x-RC#reprapfirmware-360-rc2-in-preparation.
