      Hi,

Is the following stepper suitable as an axis stepper for a large custom delta:

      MPN:                                    17HM19-2004S

      Motor Type:                        Bipolar Stepper

      Step Angle:                          0.9°

      Holding Torque:                46Ncm(65.1oz.in)

      Rated Current/phase:      2.0A

      Phase Resistance:             1.4ohms

      Recommended Voltage:  12-24V

      Inductance:                        3.0mH±20%(1KHz)

My main concern is the recommended voltage (12-24V) which is much higher than the typical 2.5-3.5V I see for most axis steppers.

      Will this stepper under-preform?

      Many thanks in advance,
      SnowCrash

        Update

Found the datasheet for the above stepper here and it says that the rated voltage is 2.8V/Phase.

The same value is also given in the StepperOnline store listing here.

So that should be ok, right?

I use the same steppers in my CoreXY build and they work well. I run them at a current of 1.4-1.6 on a 24v system and they handle it very well.

            Ditto on my CoreXY

I also run them on my Delta and they are fine.

(I think DC uses them as well or possibly the 1684 ones which are just a slightly lower current version depends what OMC's uk warehouse have in stock at the time which reminds me I need to order a pair of them.)

I am using the same motors on 2 printers (i3 clone and CoreXY), 1600mA, 24V, they run smoothly...

My understanding is that the voltage rating of the stepper motor, is not directly relevant, in that the voltage we supply the stepper driver chips (24v preferably in the case of most Duet boards), is not necessarily the voltage supplied to each coil in the stepper motor when it is in use. Almost no motors in use in 3D printing being supplied by machines with a Vin voltage of 24v are rated at 24v.

Thanks, @DjDemonD! That's my understanding too. What throw me off was the 'recommend voltage' on the eBay listing I was looking at which turned out to be very different than the 'rated voltage' of these steppers.
