      Hello everyone,

I was using a DUET wifi board. Everything was working very fine. Last night, unfortunately, the PLA cooling fan copper wires touch with each other (outer insulation got damaged due to some miswiring).

When it was printing, immediately it went to some odd movements. I stopped it and switched off the power. When I powered it again, some smoke came from the hot end side. Not sure from where it came.

I removed all the wires and connected the board to the PC, it is not detecting now. No COM port is coming. Wifi is not blinking. The processor is very hot now. Board is burnt? 😞 😞

      Any solutions??

If the processor is very hot with nothing except USB power connected to the Duet, that probably means the processor is damaged. Are any other chips on the board getting hot?

Yes it is damaged and they would have to send it our for expert repair. You would have a very tough time to replace the processor at home. Unfortunately this is the cost of wiring your own prototypes.

Yes it's possible to replace the processor, but difficult without the correct tools and experience. If you are in the US then forum user W3DRK may be able to replace it for you.

If you had a short between +3.3V or +5V and a fan or heater circuit, then it's likely that other components are damaged too, although in that case there are usually other hot components.

@3ddevil Thanks.. I am located in India. Actually, I am having DUET Wifi-01no and DUET 0.6-02nos burnt with us.

Is it possible to get the processor replaced?

                What will be the charges?

Is it possible to get the processor replaced at Duet3d or it has to be done only in US?

If expert people are there at chip level replacement, shall I give it to them? WHere can I get the processor?

I have replaced processors before, but as you are in India the carriage costs would be high. So it's best if you can find someone local who can change the processor. Perhaps a university or a hackspace/makerspace can do it for you. Or you could try searching for "SMD rework services" or "SMD repair services" in India.
