He's proud to release firmware that isn't ready and damages prints and machines. bl touch probe no longer works no matter what I do in config.g. P9 my left foot! I asked why my board throw out false heater faults? he said upgrade to duet combined firmware. Guess what? now machine can travel beyond limits and slam endstops. Homing z put nozzle through my glass. And the low vin voltage warning with 24.7 volts on my meter 60 amps waiting? Man I asked to have 1 bug fixed and now 3 more! Thanks Dave! You no there are hundred if not thousands of people struggling to print, investing good money in this board, believing it's the best. Maybe the hardware is, but man the firmware engineer writing this code has a lot to learn about actually fixing bugs and waiting to see success before throwing my features out and screwing up 3 other perfect functions. Why is this dc42 branch so problematic? And the responses to questions couldn't be more vague! Maybe if you paid closer attention to success and where less motivated to add on you wouldn't need to answer so many questions. so many more bugs, where the Raid can!

Not sure if you are aware but there are thousands of different printer setups that have to designed around. You can't expect everything to be plug and play, if that is what you want buy a prebuilt unit and never modify it. Spamming is not the answer, best of luck.

As far as I can tell Dave does a very good job. The firmware has a lot of nice features and all bugs are sorted out when properly documented. But, also, Dave is not forcing anyone to use "the latest and the greatest" firmware as soon as it is released. If you want stability, use an older release and stick to it until a more recent one proves to be bug free, at least regarding the features that you know you need/use. And a release can be considered really stable only if there is no new bug reported for at least a couple of weeks.

I have reported myself quite a few problems, one of them extremely tricky to understand and debug, visible only within specific test conditions (only few GCode files allowed seeing the problem). All of them have been fixed, while a workaround was possible for most of them until the fix was available.

I have also "caused" some of the CNC related improvements. Within 6 months the firmware changed from "barely usable for CNC" to "good for CNC". There are things still needed for "excellent for CNC", but after using the Duet for about 6 months I had a look at a Mach3 based machine... good luck sorting out that odd and old GUI!

Any fully blown controller comes with new software/firmware now and then. Either fixing bugs or adding new features, and sometimes those cost extra money. But for any platform that uses steppers rated for up to 3A and allows squaring axis with independent steppers there is no solution as cheap as the Duet series, most of the them being 4-5 times more expensive and requiring a very large volume (separate stepper drivers etc.).

So, in the end, Dave should be proud of his achievement!

and he said he won't support any release other than the one he told me to use. and that one doesn't work. i had a heater fault and traded that for 3 different bugs. keep in mind a year ago he swore it was my machine setup that cause my printer to never print. i worked for 2 months to get it working at first build. after 2 months of being told i was wrong Dave admitted it was his firmware that lacked all external drive support due to a bug. i was even called a lair. now hes back at it.

No, i said that I won't support release candidate or beta firmware once the corresponding stable version is available. I tested firmware 2.01 with BLTouch, and I am fairly sure that other users are using this combination without problems.

                          Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having problems.

I have four printers all equipped with Duet WiFi/Duex 5 setups.

No issues whatsoever - other than "operator error".

Yes there have been minor firmware problems but nothing that was harmful to the printer and they have all been fixed in a very timely manner.

Perhaps there is another source for your difficulties.

If you are using a BL Touch "clone" you should be aware that they may fail. I purchased two and they did not last very long.

@sjason1377 If the machine is reporting firmware as being 2.0 as you have posted, then that is what you've installed. The version you should be using, which has been pointed out numerous times is 2.01. Just look at the release notes and the bug fixes.

Oh and don't send me this again like you did last time I tried to help. For the rest of you, this is a quote from an email that this guy sent me a while back

                                      Quote....

Hey Just wanted to respond. You wear your feelings on your sleeve like a little bitch! Stop proof reading old post and concentrate on the real issues. How bout the faulty board dc42 is refusing to honor warranty for after admitting it the mcu path that is defective. I'm a ginny pig for his testing, not a costumer I see. Just stop being a winney lit bitch, You fucking fag!"

                                      ..........end of quote.

So be warned people. If you try to help this guy, that's the kind of abuse that you'll get for your efforts.
