Join filaments....

Hi,
I have leftover rolls of filament, and I would like to take advantage of them ....
I have consulted with Google, and I have seen that there are many systems, from the most DIY to methods that use specialized equipment (And expensive)
One of the ones I've seen, which seems the most reasonable is this:
The only doubt I have, is that the temperature reached by the hair iron is 230 degrees, maybe something more ... but not much ... for PLA, I imagine that well, ABS ... will be in the limit and PETG , I have my doubts .... I do not think that the temperature that has to be reached to join the filament, has to be that of extrusion.
Has anyone tried this system?
Any other system to join filaments?Thank you

Depends on which way you slide it.

I've done that often. A short piece of bowden tube, a ligther and some sanding paper. That's all you need.

OK, in all seriousness, I'm missing something about "slide off the tube".
My primary case for WANTING to join filament is to use an "end of roll". That may still have 40 meters on it. Am I really supposed to slide the tube over all of that?
Or even two half full rolls. Maybe there a filament detector and pause would be better... if I'm there to change it... so maybe I do still need to join two half rolls. Surely I'm not supposed to slide that tube for 150 meters?

@danal Just leave the ptfe tube in place, it shouldn't get past the extruder. It'll come off when the filament runs out.
