I don't really think Duet 3 will be much faster in uploading the Duet 2. It still lacks the big RAM with is available on devices running octopi with is essential to get fast uploading speeds.
But for me I get between 600-800kb/s with is fine, even uploading g-code file like ~158MB doesn't take much time. -
Yes, transferring gcode. Best I can get is with one of my Maestro's. I just did a test comparison.
155Mb gcode file:
Pi 3B+ = 29 seconds.
Maestro = 3 minutes, 18 seconds.On my Duet ethernet, it would probably be a bit slower. The Maestro shows roughly 780kbps or so speeds.
It's certainly not a deal breaker by any means, but it would be convenient to have Pi like speeds. I know that most likely won't happen for a long time.

Can the PI upload while printing? Is that possible with the RTOS 2+ Duet firmware?
Running 3 P3Steel with Duet 2. Duet 3 on the shelf looking for a suitable machine. One first generation Duet in a Logo/Turtle style robot!

@misteroz for larger files I use the panel Due's card and upload direct from CPU.
I have the printer many rooms over and only get 175kb/s due to the -75db connection.

@misteroz I think he means he removed the SD card and puts it in a PC to copy the large file over, and then puts it back in the Duet. Sneakernet.

@misteroz The due 5i/7i has a micro SD slot. I remove it and upload direct from pc, then place the SD back in the panel due whenever I upload a job longer than 16 hours.

@doctrucker Duet firmware 2.XX can upload while printing, works fine.
@MisterOz as I said, a PI 3B+ is fast when uploading files because it have plenty of RAM to buffer you file. Duet can buffer only small hunks of the uploading file and then it need to dump them to sdcard.
And sdcards are more efficient when writing big hunks of data with Duet can not do.For Duet 3 to get Pi 3B+ speeds it would need to have additional SDRAM on the board, like ~128MB SDRAM. But I didn't hear it will get it.

Upload the next print after you start the previous. A 150mb+ file won't print in 3min18, and you completely elimiate loading time between builds. The pi should however be able to do this too, only real issue is if you like to run simulation before prints.
Having said all that higjlighting weaknesses shouldn't be discouraged, and it is interesting to hear what limits it.
Has it got to the point where the 2.0+ can run simulations concurrently?

What speed do you expect? Have you already some tests?
