[SOLVED,,, sort of]Maestro does not publish printer name.

Hi,
My Maestro board doesn't publish the name to the network and it never has.
I have M550 Pmecreator2 in config.g the same way I have it on my other printer (Duet2 Wifi)Firmware is 2.02a and config-override.g only contains heater tuning.

it does for me. check your dhcp logs
From my log
DHCPREQUEST for 192.168.1.237 (192.168.1.1) from XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (maestro) via green0 -
Hello again.
Sorry for the delay. My buddy's car broke down, so I had to go tow it and him home.
I'm a novice at this, so stupid questions will follow
How and where do I check dhcp logs? The name (mecreator2) shows up correctly in the web interface, but I can't connect to it with "http://mecreator2.local/", but it works on my duet2 Wifi printer (TLM), using http://TLM.local/.

The DuetEthernet and Maestro do not support mDNS functionality (i.e. http://TLM.local) where as the Wifi does.
See here: https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/7993/local-printer-name-not-working-ip-address-works-fine/3

your router/dns server needs to support this.
i run ipfire which automatically registers all dhcp requests in the localdomain.
as a workaround see if you can assign a static lease on your router.

I'm not sure what You mean. My Duet Wifi works fine, but Phaedrux just reported that the ethernet and maestro doesn't support it Are You saying that I can get it working if I use ipfire?
-
I found a simple workaround. Just added the ip address and name in the hosts file in windows.
I have to do it on every computer I plan to access the printer from, but I only have this one and a laptop, so no problem -
That's a clever workaround.
