Presently I'm wiring up a Duet Wifi for an Ender 5 (my first motherboard upgrade). I am unable to get the hot end wires to fit into a ferrule then into the board connector, either the the ferrule (which fits the connector) is too small a diameter for the wire or the ferrule which is the right size for the wire is to large for the connector???

      Any help appreciated.

Use the ferrule that is the correct size for the terminal. You can selectively cut individual strands of copper off your exposed wire until all the strands fit inside the ferrule.

You can use the terminal block without the ferrule if necessary. Lightly twist the wire end but don't tin it with solder. After printing for an hour or two, check that the screws are still tight. Check again after about a week.

It's more important to use ferrules with the VIN and bed heater terminal blocks, because of the higher current.

If it's close but you just can't seem to get all the strands in a crimp connector a trick I was tought a long time ago is to strip longer than needed, splay the strands, cut some of the inner strands, twist back together and pull through.

Guess I should have said cut the inner strands part way so that when you pull through all strands are in the connector.

Thanks for the replies. In the end I decided to buy a ferrule crimper kit (cheapo from Amazon). One size, marked E7508 20AWG was the perfect fit after being crimped and no need for any trimming of wires, well pleased.

How were you going to use ferrules without crimping them?
