So reading thru this tutorial on how to setup the bltouch.
      https://betrue3d.dk/bltouch-on-duet-wifi-configuratio-and-usage/

I followed it exactly and it seems to be working fine. But the question I have is those instructions say to setup the probe as type 5 as in the line M558 P5 H7 F200 T4000 X0 Y0 Z1 ; Set Z probe type/mode 5. H=Dive Height. F=Speed the bed moves where the P parameter is a 5.

Someone pointed out to me that this should actually be set as a type 9 sensor so it reads P9. But its working fine should I change it or leave it the way it is? Whats the difference between a type 5 or type 9 sensor setting?

P9 was added to support the BLTouch specifically. P5 treats it as a generic switch. The article was written before the BLTouch mode was added.

You can successfully use either. The P9 mode is just more optimized and is recommended.

thanks for the info, I will go back and change it, will it affect anything else that I need to change?

I don't think so but it's been a while since I've looked at that guide. The p9 mode also simplified how the deployment and retraction of the probe pin worked. So if you are manually deploying and retracting the pin in your homing files you no longer need to do that, because it's handled by the firmware now automatically when G30 or G29 is issued.
