G28 Z Error: M280: Invalid servo index 3 in M280 command

  • I just installed a Piezo Orion board so the nozzle is the probe. It reacts when I touch the tip, the light changes but I obviously have something wrong in my firmware settings I cant figure out. Getting the error
    G28 Z
Error: M280: Invalid servo index 3 in M280 command
When I try to home Z, what am I missing?
It is plugged into the Z endstop connection power, ground, signal

  • post your homeall, homez and deploy/retract files? Suspect its trying to deploy a probe for some reason?

  • the firmware was originally setup for a bltouch but I thought I changed everything but apparently not. Here is my homeall.g

  • maybe there is something in your config override file?

  • i dont have an overide file

  • Ok I figured out I just needed to delete the deploy and retract macros from when I had the bltouch hooked up and that got rid of the error.

Now im just trying to figure out why the piezo does not stop the bed when homing Z now. The sensors led changes when i touch the tip but the duet doesnt respond, the bed keeps moving

  • @57buick said in G28 Z Error: M280: Invalid servo index 3 in M280 command:

    M558 P1 I1

Is P1 correct for the piezo? I thought they used P8 for digital input.

Double check wiring. Are the crimps good? Are they going to the right places?

  • its my understanding you can use P1, P5, or P8 they all should work with a little different filtering?

  • administrators

I suggest you use P8 for a piezo.
