      I'm trying to edit a post which I made yesterday and am unable to save the changes because the post is detected as spam by the akismet spam filter.

      The post in question is the one I made about my new case for the Duet+Duex combo. Hardly spammy in content.

      Do I have to say this is stupid? It's not the first time it's happened either.

        Even more oddly, I went back to the pending edit (the little spinning orange speech bubble) and pressed the submit button again and the edit was accepted!

        Looks like a bug to me.

              it happened to me earlier as well as if there is a timer that stops quick fire posts!

                  This used to happen to me all the time. I went to https://akismet.com/contact/ and chose "I think Akismet is catching my comments by mistake". They got back quite quickly and resolved the problem within a day...

                    The strange thing is that this has only happened to me when I got back to edit a post which was previously OK.

                      @grizewald It happened exactly the same for me too. It might appear strange, but that's exactly what spam filters do - detect duplicates or otherwise correlate the posts. Editing is like asking for trouble in the spam filters eyes.

                        @edgars-batna That's bug then.

                        If a user edits a post which the spam filter has previously seen and approved, it's not going to mean an extra post and if the content differs from the previous version by one word then there is absolutely no reason why it should mark the edited version as spam.

                        If the spam filter doesn't understand that it is being shown an edit rather than a brand new post which appears to be virtually identical to a previous post then there's something missing in how the forum communicates with the spam filter.

                        One way is a bug, the other way is an implementation error. Either way, the behaviour is irritating and unwanted.

                          @grizewald Yes, it is a bug, but equally so a feature. The algorithms are moving away from lossless to lossy or fuzzy, because that's how the world works. If you have a certain gene preventing you from getting a certain sickness, you might in turn be completely unprepared for another. Ask the antivirus developers, they know the best.

                            I have run through a series of upgrades which may or may not help with this issue.
