New HEVO build
-
I'm just about to start my first CoreXY build, so this was a good find: https://3dprinter.builders/what-i-wish-i-knew-before-i-built-my-hypercube-evolution/ which I think was written by forum user @supernovae.
I've chosen to build a HEVO because of what I have available, and that it gives me options for future changes. It'll mostly be used for firmware testing and customer support. My HEVO is going to be a bit of a parts bin special, using 3030 extrusion from an old, disassembled CNC router that I've had in my loft for a few years! Extrusion lengths are good and accurately cut, fortunately. Also going all 8mm smooth rod for now, as I have a lot spare, and don't have any other sizes. Motors will be 1.8º NEMA17 (of which I have many), but might get 0.9º if the vertical banding is too bad! Hot end will be E3D V6 Bowden, build area will be around 260x260x300mm with the lengths I've got. Following the advice from the above guide, I'm trying to source genuine Gates GT2 idlers and belt in the UK - anyone got a link?
Any advice, particularly on standard parts that are worth replacing, greatly appreciated! A working Fusion 360 model would be good, as the original was done in Inventor and importing it into Fusion loses all parametric values.
Ultimately, I'll want to experiment with the layout as discussed in THIS post, though I'll build it standard to start off with. I'll end up doing my own X ends and carriage to do that.

E3D carries Gates 2GT belt and pulleys, etc.

E3D carry Gates Unitta 2GT belts, not Gates USA GT2. See THIS post and thread. I'd prefer the latter, if possible.

Yes, I'm aware. Though as long as the belts match the pulleys it shouldn't make much difference? Supposedly both gates designed and quality.
