Occasional G0/G1: insufficient axes homed error
-
Hi,
I occasionally get the G0/G1: insufficient axes homed error for my Y axis. The problem generally happens when I am printing a new object following another one or repeating the last one. The X axis homes without a problem, the Y axis starts moving towards home position but stops close to the Y endstop without triggering it. To correct the problem, I have to shut down and turn on the printer, then it homes correctly. Is this a known bug or a problem with my configuration?
Thanks.

Difficult to say without knowing anything about your machine limits, what you have in your configuration files, and what you have in your homing files. Gazing into my Crystal ball, one possibility might be that the Y homing move is too short to reach the ends stop. So if for example the Y axis is 110mm away from the end stop, but your homeY has a command to move only 100mm, then it will stop short. If you then cycle the power, the Y axis starts from a new position which is now only 10mm away from the switch so this time, that 100mm move is sufficient. Alternatively, something might be sticking on your Y axis so you get missed steps doing the homing move. Yet another alternative is that you lower the motor current for homing but it's too low. I could go on guessing all night but if you could post your config.g file, your homing files and tell us a bit about your printer, it'll save an awful lot of time Oh and an M122 report taken as soon as you get the problem would be handy to have.

@deckingman Your crystal ball is right The homey.g file had a shorter move (the Y size is 220 but the command was 195). After the print ends the Y axis goes all the way to the end, so when restarting, 195 mm falls short. Changing it to 220 correctecd the problem.
Thanks

And for my next trick, post a picture of your hand and I'll tell your fortune.
On a more serious not, glad that's fixed for you.
