Upgrading an Ender5 to duet 2 wifi
-
Hi All. Hope your all heathy.
Just getting into 3d printing, I have a Creality Ender 5. Are there any files on how to upgrade to a Duet 2 wifi, Wiring info, and firmware inStall? Did a search of this forum and did not get much, except the Ender3 which I don’t know if that is help or not.
I am a retired EE, so i can follow wire/schematics on how to do it. I also have a lot of pin pusher and crimpers to change out plugs if need be. How ever I was a hardware guy and have limited firmware experience. Any help would greatly appreciated and welcomed.
Thanks

@HighAltPrinter2 Welcome. The guide you found is superb
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Guide/Ender+3+Pro+and+Duet+Maestro+Guide+Part+1:+Wiring/37?lang=enYes it is for a Maestro but the principles can be applied to the Duet2 WiFi board you have.
A number of people have used that guide for their Ender5's and then when they get stuck, back on here to ask a question or two, no problem.Open your printer, unless you have already done that, compare wiring of the Creality board to the Duet2 with the guide to hand.
IIRC the Creality touchpanel cannot be wired in to the Duet2 WiFi.Regards,
Paul.

The guide linked by Paul should be fairly applicable to the Ender 5. If you're looking for a step by step follow along guide, it's not quite that, but if you're cognizant of that there are difference the general steps apply.
There are also quite a few other threads about the Ender 5 that may prove useful: https://forum.duet3d.com/search?term=ender 5&in=titlesposts
And if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. We're here to help out.

Wow thanks for the great info. Every time I search for any thing on an Ender 5 search it came back “not found”. I'll get to reading and try to getup to speed. My grand son is teaching me how to use the printer so got that covered.
Getting old is not for the timid.

I have E5 converted to duet2eth it's and apart from network configuration it's identical to duet2wifi
my config is available here: https://github.com/Duet3D/RRF-machine-config-files/tree/master/Creality_Ender_5/arhi-eth-centreZero-xrail-flex3drive
now I configured it to have center (0,0) on the middle of the table, X to increase to the right and Y to increase to the back so that from the front of the printer coordinate system look "normal" and not like original where 0,0 is back right corner and everything inverted. Also that config is not for original extruder so you need to configure your esteps there for your extruder, everything else should work 1/1 .. there's config there for bltouch if you want to use it etc etc..
