Did I just kill this thing with my incorrect stepper wiring?
-
Hi!
Classic case of reading things 5 minutes too late....I had an issue with my board where the stepper drivers kept saying that the phases may not be connected, regardless of which axis I tried to home.
So I remembered one time hearing that on some connectors the green and blue cables were flipped. I figured this might've been the issue, and tested on the X axis. Tried homing and... the sound was louder, for sure, but still no real movement and still the same error.
Then what was probably the real f up: I moved the X axis by hand somewhat. BAM, PSU shuts down as if I had created a dead short. Attempts to power on all lead to that same PSU safety feature clicking on immediately.Having then read there's a way better than trial and error to determine which windings go together, I have determined my 1st guess had been correct and the 2nd guess, with which this hand moving business was conducted, had been incorrect.
Anything left to do at this stage, or is it the end of the road? No magic smoke got released for all I could tell, but I also couldn't find any online references for this particular branch of the decision tree in installing the duet wifi.

Unfortunately, it sounds as though one of the TMC2660 drivers has failed with both an upper and a lower mosfet short circuit. Does any of the TMC2660 chips look damaged? In particular, the one that the motor was connected to.

No, they look absolutely clean and pristine as before. Also tried to look through various components on the board around them, can't find anything that would be evidently changed in appearance.

Does the PSU shut down even with no stepper motors connected?
-
yes, it does.
-
@Fernester Does it shut down when not connected to the Duet?
-
@alankilian No, it does not.
-
@Fernester Then my opinion is the board is dead.

maybe there was another problem

i though with the stepper connection, you could only destroy the stepper drivers.

It's not looking great, but you can try to work through here:
