ToolBoard 1LC fuse rating
-
Hi,
Looking at the documentation for the toolboard it suggests putting and inline fuse which I would like to do, but do not know how to calc the required amperage.
50w heater, 17HS10-0704S stepper with rated current/phase 0.7a
Using this site https://www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/watts-to-amps-calculator/
I put 51w in to take account of the stepper and heater which then calculated 2.13aThe smallest Blade fuse based on the above is 3amps.
Is this safe or do I need to look at another solution, please.Regards

Hi,
A 3 amp fuse should be fine but what voltage are you using for your calculations?

24v Meanwell PSU. Was driving a Duet2 eth and a Duex

Well the heater alone is going to need 2.08 amps. Add the current for the stepper and you could be up to 2.64 so a 3 amp fuse seems good - if it blows try the next size up.

The tool distribution board uses 5A fuses.

@oliof Morning, I was about to say, I do not have a tool distro board, but then saw the relevance of your reply!
I have a selection anyway, but thanks for the info, good shout.
I will start with a 3 and see what happens.Regards,
Paul
