      Hello everybody,
I have a problem with the ip address.
Every day the ip changes number.
It has just given me an address that corresponds to another existing ip address in another room. So I can't access my printer. How can I rename my IP address and keep it permanently attached to my printer?
      Thank.

In your router you can probably have the DHCP server assign a static IP address to your printers MAC-adress.

Try logging into the router and look for DHCP. In the lease table you should find your printer and you will probably be able to make that assignment static.

That's how I do it anyway.

You should be able to find your printers MAC-address by using m122 (probably something else as well)

@roberto as @Gixxerfast says the normal way to do this is to get your router to assign the same address to the printer every time with a DHCP reservation.

You can also give the printer a fixed address when you add the network using M587 however you then have the issue that the fixed address may clash with the IP address range allowed to be allocated to other devices on the network. If you do use fixed addresses for anything, esure they are outside of the DHCP scope setup on your router.

@gixxerfast Hello Gix, thank you, I'll do a test with both techniques, yours and Tony's. It should be as simple as possible.

@t3p3tony Thanks Tony, I'll give it a try. There will be about 10 printers and it should be as simple as possible.

I am using the M587 method because it survives router replacement. Same for other IP devices such as 2D network printers or smart doorbells.
