      Hi there,

out of the blue the fuse blew on my duet 2's bed heater, no biggie, I replaced it, but now when I turn on the bed heater it doesn't run current in that direction.

I measured the voltage across the bed output and its at zero while it's active. I don't see any blown mosfets. Is there a good way to diagnose this?

      thanks,
      -Michael

I checked the voltage across the legs of the bed mosfet and its getting 5v. I believe there is an LED to go along with this one, but there isn't on at after sending an M140 S40 gcode line.

The question is, what caused it to blow in the first place. The fuse blew when too much current was being drawn. Was that from the heater itself shorting internally, or a wire shorting? And when it blew, did it take anything else with it?

Can you take some close up well lit photos of the board incase we can spot any other damage? It's a good opportunity to disconnect everything and give it a good inspection.

sure that's a good point, actually now that I look at it, the new fuse I put in is also burned up. I'm not seeing any damage to the connection point, and the solder pads on the heater PCB look good to. I measured 2.2 ohms across the bed heating circuit so there doesn't appear to be a short anywhere.

That's concerning. Definitely time to tear things down and investigate before something gets seriously fried.

I ran through wiring and discovered one had worn through the shielding near the connection point through the case. I patched this up and replaced the fuse, good as new!
