I use Duet 2 Wifi to control my CNC but everytime I change my internet service provider I face a huge problem when trying to configure the Duet via USB.
My MSI laptop runs W10 and when I plug the USB cable to the Duet 2 Wifi motherboard nothing goes right.
1- My laptop does not recognize anything being plugged
2- YAT says there is no COM port available

What is the big stupid thing I am doing in order to not be able to connect such a simple thing?

      Thanks.

@delbarco have you tried a different USB cable? Some USB cables are for charging only and do not pass data.

Alternatively, do what I do: when changing Internet service provider, configure the new router to have the same SSID and password that the old one had. That saves resetting the SSID and password on all your smartphones, tablets, TVs etc. as well as the Duet.

Well your second advice it's just glorious. Thanks.
About the usb cable not working, I have to doubt such a thing since the Duet lights are on.

@delbarco lights = power, not data. You'd be surprised how many cables don't have a data line!

Also, re point 2, just be careful if you use any special characters etc or if your SSID is quite long. I did this but my new ISP doesn't allow apostrophes and has a shorter character limit so i had to change it anyway!

@delbarco might just be an SA thing, but our modems allow us to configure the ssid's and passwords, why not just keep it the same or is that locked out? Though, I haven't used a service providers router in years, but often have to setup for others, and always ensure it isn't default. And if it's replacing a solution, I make it the same as it previously was to ensure I don't get phone calls about device not connecting. But, everytime I replace mine, my duets connect up with out issue to the new router.

Also try the zadig libusb drivers for win 10, they solve lots of com port issues I have found in the past
