Installing an Accelerometer
-
good day Gurus,
im currently doing a full tear down on my ROBO 3d r1, i installed a Duet 2 wifi board a couple years ago. i picked up a Duet filament run out sensor, and want to start messing around with an accelerometer to test out input shaping.
other than the dozuki doc, I cant find many videos or support on them. i assume its just not a popular upgrade?
either way what I am wondering is do I just securely attach the accelerometer to the print head? I'm assuming it doesn't matter where?

@joehsmash
Theoretically, it should always be oriented as close as possible to the nozzle tip.
But if you can mount or fix the circuit board on top of the print head, the results should be meaningful enough. Here is the starting point where the subject of accelerometers is discussed.
Pay attention to the links to the following pages.
https://docs.duet3d.com/User_manual/Tuning/Input_shapingYou should also install the Input Shaping plugin, it's a lot more usable than the pre-installed plugin.
https://github.com/Duet3D/InputShapingPluginPay special attention to the cable from the Duet board to the accelerometer.
It turned out that a USB3 cable is the best solution.
For the CS channel you should take a separately shielded line of the USB3 cable.Google Translate

@Norder Thank you for your reply, i will look into this.

@joehsmash i see many people say to put the accelerometer at the nozzle head to replicate at the printing source. i did not do this however and i simply placed the accelerometer on the top of my motor and called it good enough.
