Beacon Probe

Hi,
is it possible to run the Beacon Probe with Duet3 HC6?
Beacon ProbeOr is it possible to implement the support if it doesn't work yet?

@Herve_Smith said in Beacon Probe:
They are trying to talk it up to make it look really really special by calling it an "Eddy Current" sensor which is just a fancy name for what looks like an amplified 4 wire inductive sensor
That’s the physical operation of the sensor. However, there seems to be a catch: the manufacturer emphasises that in order to probe the bed, you won’t need any Z-moves. So, the measured distances must be reported as analog or digital values, which rises the question of the interface used.

It's being looked into.

@Phaedrux I asked on Beacon forum about it and they said
" Beacon only supports Klipper at this time. It needs tight timing sync, making it difficult to port to RRF. Sorry!"

It's not the tight timing that makes the Beacon difficult to use with RRF, it's the use of USB to connect it. Duets don't currently support USB host mode, and in any case the latency of USB makes the use of USB for this purpose questionable IMO, especially on a RPi where the USB bus is likely to be shared by several devices.
If they made e.g. a version that used a UART interface then we could support it in RRF.

@dc42 maybe re-using the 3d scanner interface, or an SBC extension talking klipper MCU protocol to the beacon probe would be an option.
