Stepper motor short
-
Having an issues with my driver 4 on my duet 3 6HC.
“Driver 0.4 error: phase A short to Vin”
I searched online and can confirm I have not unplugged any stepper motors whilst it’s been turned on, nor have I mismatched cable pairs(used a multimeter to triple check my aviation plugs and stepper motor connection points).
I unplugged everything and flipped the board over and noticed the “4_A+” pin has been over soldered comparatively to all the other stepper motor pins by 100-200% extra solder.
Luckily I have a backup board I will try and start tomorrow fresh with, but I was planning to return said board due to financial constraints, but I have no other option right now short term(deadline).
Running 3.4.5

@xavierb Please can you post a photo of the soldering. Has the driver ever worked, or has it always reported a fault? Have you tested the same motor on a different driver? When and from where did you purchase the board?

The driver worked for 2-5 seconds then failed, same motor works on all other drivers. The board was purchased 2 weeks ago from 3D printing canada. It’s the revised edition of the board.

This is the image of the error. M115 code reported back all motors were the same. When I go to try to move the motor and send another m115 command to see if the 4th driver reports something else, that error keeps spamming the web interface and panel due so I can’t input a m115 command to compare the difference.
Lastly this issue still happens when I unplug the stepper motor cable from driver 4(just a bare header).

How does it look on the front side in the area of that driver?
When and where did you purchase the board? -
Front side seams ok. I ordered on March 30th and received on the 31st. I booted it on for the first time roughly 1.5-2 weeks ago. It was purchased from a Canadian reseller called 3D printing Canada. I was doing final wiring on my e drive yesterday when this happened, sadly it was the final step of my 3D printer build

@xavierb we will replace the Duet. Please email warranty@duet3d.com with a link to this thread and cc your reseller.
Note to repairer: possible bad soldering on the BAT40V diodes associated with this stepper driver phase, or shorted mosfet.
