Printer with 9 closedloop drivers
-
Hello,
I would like to build a printer, which has five tools with little closed loop nema 17 stepper motors- each to be homed independently with endswitches. The x axe should have two more strong steppermotors, the y and z axis one. What would be a good choise for mainboard and extensiónboards?
I thought about the duet 3 mini and 4 of the HLC1 expansiónboards.
Am I right with this?

@mago I'm just guessing, so please forgive me if I'm wrong, but the Duet3 mini isn't able to control CL steppers.
IMHO you'd need a Duet3 6XD and external CL-drivers plus 1HCL boards. -
Ok. Thank you for the answer!

@mago It depends on the "little closed loop nema 17 stepper motors" and how they can be driven. Have you got a link to the product page or data sheet?

They are driven by an external cl driver cl42

@mago The Duet 3 Mini 5+ can only drive 2 external drivers like the CL42. You will be better off with a Duet 3 6XD, then 4x Duet 3 1HCL boards for the 2x X, Y and Z stepper motors (up to 6.3A peak). If you already have external drivers for these, use Duet 3 1XD boards to connect them to the 6XD.
