P'n'P on a Delta Printer
-
Interested to find information of Delta type PicknPlace machines with Duet Mini5 board.
-
@tecno I would be interested in this too. One potential issue is that the delta geometry would need to be very accurate to ensure linearity in XY movement and hence in placement accuracy over the whole PCB especially when placing 0402 or 0201 components and small leadless chips.
-
@dc42 One way to increase accuracy would be to use my differential belt drive.
Just by changing the mixing ratio it could move 2x faster than a regular delta, but also have very fine motion capabilities.
But it would need 6 steppers for the motion plus a rotary motor on the toolhead. Too much for a Mini5. -
@o_lampe the Mini5+ supports 7 stepper motors if you use the 2+ add on.

Change in plans here, just got a good PnP machine ZB3245T
I would like to run this on OpenPNP and add vision 2-3 cameras.
What do you guys recommend to do? Has 6 steppers and 7 I/O -
I think Duet 3 Main Board 6XD is the way to go for this project with OpenPnP.
-
@tecno Does OpenPnP know this machine? How it homes and picks up and aligns the parts? How does the reel feed work a.s.o.
From the picture the toolhead has two suction cups. (for bigger chips I guess)
What I don't see is, does the toolhead have a rotating pickup? If not, you have to figure out how to rotate parts. Camera inspection would be the cherry on the cake, but I would try without in the beginning.Good luck
PS: I have worked on a semi-automatic PnP table. It was much slower than a real PnP, but for prototypes and small batches it was OK. -
No OpenPnP has no knowledge of this machine as it is totally standalone.
2 head with rotation and it has JUKI nozzles but no way to connect cherry on the cake.Machine works but I would like to get cameras to OpenPnP PC to simplify working process.
Cheers
