I am pleased to announce the release of the Fysetc StrideMax Dual.
      77e4e684-20a3-4a8a-9f6f-e8f8f9140420-image.png
This is an expansion board based on the RP2040. It supports both RRF (CAN-FD) and klipper (CAN). It is supported by all Duet 3 Boards, all STM32H7 RRF boards and any STM32F4 board using the teamgloomy SPICAN module.
It has 2 x onboard TMC5160 drivers which support up to 48V.
There are also 2 x IOs, 3 x thermistors ports (the 2nd and 3rd thermistor ports can either be used with onboard thermistors for each driver or external thermistors), 2 x 4 wire fan ports (supporting 5v or 12v fans only) and 1 x neopixel header.
The board will be supported from 3.5-RC2 of the teamgloomy RRF release and documentation will be on our wiki in the following days.
It can be purchased from AliExpress

Edit: Its dimensions are roughly 91mm x 80mm without the holder

Owns various duet boards and is the main wiki maintainer for the Teamgloomy LPC/STM32 port of RRF. Assume I'm running whatever the latest beta/stable build is

@jay_s_uk Great expansion board for a small price!
Where can I find the teamgloomy SPICAN module on Ali? I think I'd need one for my Fly super8?

@jay_s_uk Do you know when the firmware will be ready or is it already on the device like the RRF-36? I received a note this morning that the package is at the sorting center in Orlando so it should arrive sometime next week at the latest. That is the quickest order I have had yet from China! I will be back Wednesday of next week so I would have to wait anyways.

@jay_s_uk Just put one in the sack, hopefully it's been released a version of 3.5.0-rc2 i can actually run before it arrives 🙄

I saw Fysetc's posted a render with a DIN-rail mount on the product page on Ali, do you know where one can get hold of the files for that Jay?

                    3.5.0-rc2

We released 3.5.0-rc2 on Xmas eve.

@gloomyandy Oh yeah i know you guys have the fw for this board ready to rock!

I was refering to me not being able to run it on my mainboard & 1LC because of the reversing extruder issue 😂

@Exerqtor If you use Autodesk products they have the step file on there that has both the board and the din rail mount. I only use their viewer so I can't do squat with it.

@jay_s_uk I should know some time this week. One has been sitting in Orlando so it should be released to the post office shortly.

The board finally arrived. It sat since the 23rd in the Orlando sorting center which did not matter since I was in MN. Now I'm back and have covid so it arriving does not matter much. I even wore a mask since there were so many at the airport and in the plane coughing. Had a few commenting on that, wonder if they also caught it,

Things I noticed, it looks big and is quite heavy. so you would not want it on a moving part. And seems very well made. Only part I would be careful with on it is the USB-C port.

And it did come with the plastic mount for DIN rails. But no USB-C cable. Since it is needed for initial firmware install you will need one

@KenW thanks for the initial feedback.
I know what you mean about the USB-C port, it is an interesting choice in orientation.
Hope you get over covid quickly

@jay_s_uk Here is the part if anyone is curious, It is only connected under the part so would be easy to bend over and possibly disconnect from the board that it protrudes from.
Was not happy when the tester came up with a positive line but it did explain why i feel so lousy.

@jay_s_uk Other than the concerns with the USB port I am quite pleased with this boards construction. Will design a case that protects that part. It will replace the A and B stepper drivers on the Duet 3 mini 5+. I'm hoping to have only the 2 can and 2 power leads feeding the whole top end when done.

It can monitor temperature on the stepper motors as well as itself which will be nice. And has plenty of cooling capacity and higher capacity stepper drivers.

The power lead to the RRF-36 is 18 AWG so it should be enough to feed the Stridemax too. Will need to figure out whether to have the CAN leads go into the Stridemax then on to the RRF-36 or vice versa and how to set that all up.

Edit and eventually a MMU will be sitting up there too. Hopefully fed from the same 2 can wires.

@KenW would be easier to wire stridemax to RRF36 rather than the other way round

@jay_s_uk For now then I'll feed from the Stridemax to the RRF-36 since it is easier to terminate. In the future though with the idea of using 2 RRF-36 boards to power the MMU would this work?

Edit, was originally going to use those RRF-36's to power A and B steppers and decided the Stridemax would be even better.

@KenW yes, you can do that. Depending on how long the cables are to each RRF36 you can either run in a star topology if they're under 1m or you can connect one RRF36 to the other to continue the bus. The easiest way to do this is solder the CAN wires to the RRF36 CAN-H and -L. I do this for connecting a Duet SZP to an RRF36

Playing with the thought of putting together a Trad Rack and using a StrideMax "Daul" (since Fysetc don't know how to proof read I swear on saying "Daul" until they do a statement on it 🤣), shouldn't be any issue running a servo motor off out0 or out1 should it? 🤔
