Have a think about replacing the SSR with an ip relay e.g. Shelly 1. You can turn it on / off from a browser and/or a momentary switch. You would not need to use PS_ON to latch it. It would also operate independently of your emergency supply.

@stuartofmt I slowly tend to that Shelly thing as it looks like a manageable and straightforward solution, until I am forced to do something more fancy. Thanks.
