It makes little or no difference. When we make hardware revisions, we try to arrange it so that we and our distributors switch to the new revision at the same time. Firmware can be upgraded easily anyway.
We recommend that US-based customers by from Filastruder or from one of our other US distributors.

Thanks. Is the Duex5 on Filastruder site the expansion board you have recommended in order to drive a external stepper motor amplifier/controller?
-
@irondesk40 No, this is what they are referring to: https://www.filastruder.com/collections/electronics/products/duet-expansion-board
This allows you to use external drivers. The Duex has on-board drivers, just like the Duet.

A little confused. I thought the following was what was needed to drive external stepper controllers.

Do not see that listed on filastruder.

@irondesk40 @bot linked you to it, here's the link again:

My fault , i can find it on the filastruder site after i opened your link.
is there a wiring diagram for the breakout board? My external driver requires 5v and i understand this board will supply that. I saw a picture of board with a hookup diagram but not clear if i would need to supply a external power source or is it supplied through the ribbon cable. -
How to connect will depend a bit on what drivers you are using - do you have a model number or data sheet?
-
Looking at this one for testing. Then possibly a Yamaha. But for testing in our R&D Lab will be using this one since i have it.
