PEI coated flex-plate system
-
I'm not sure if this is allowed here, but I wanted to post a link to my Kickstarter that I just launched for my PEI coated flex-plate system for all 3D printers.
I have been working on this for over a year now and just wanted to share it with the world finally.
Here is the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1536120962/pei-coated-flex-plate-system-for-3d-printers
Thank you

@klcjr89 You say 310mm diagonal max, just to confirm, that excludes the tabs at the front right? My bed is exactly 310x310mm.
-
@keyz182 Do you mean diameter? I'm not sure what you mean by diagonal, but yes, it excludes the tab sizes. So, the sheet would be about 310x310mm printing area and the tabs are about 20mm in length.
Thank you!

I backed it - I'm using the IR sensor with my current PEI stuck to a buildtak flex plate and the transparency is a pain to deal with. I like the texture and opacity of this plate.
-
@gregspruce Greg, I sincerely appreciate it. I messaged you in my Kickstarter dashboard.
I am not sure how to deal with the problem of people wanting to order just the sheet if they already have a magnet system, so I made a FAQ on the Kickstarter.
The problem is, if I sold 500 coated sheets without the magnet and 100 with the magnet, I wouldn't meet the minimum order quantity from my supplier to order the magnet material.
-
@klcjr89 I'm sure I can find a creative use for an extra magnet.
Or just use it as an excuse to pull together all of my other spare parts and build yet another printer.
-
That’s very true. It could be used for lots of things due to the high temp rating and adhesive backing!
-
Ill back it also, I've got a custom size one from thekiinnng in Canada as I've set magnets in my cast aluminium bed. Works great but the issue I've faced already with the textured sheet was the pores went through to the steel sheet in some places and began to rust underneath the pei resulting in it lifting off within 2 months .
I hope you can achieve a reliable quality -
Thank you for being a backer. I noticed with the amazon sheets and Prusas is that the texture is pretty coarse; maybe that is part of the issue. I've had people using them since July without issue.

Is it possible to specify no magnets?

Technically, yes, but if you don't need the magnet couldn't you use it for something else? Otherwise you would be paying for something you're not receiving.
-
Yep fair enough, I'm sure I could find something to use it on
-
Is 310mm the limit in size?
I'm looking for one around 460mm square, 450mm minimum.

The size limit is stated on the Kickstarter. We also have a FAQ section over there as to the current limitations. The future is bright however for making any size if the Kickstarter is successfully funded.
Thank you!

We have just published an update to the Kickstarter. We are now offering flex-plates without the magnet based off of feedback.

I shared your Kickstarter with 3d printing Australia group also. A few people interested there
