    • RE: METAL PRINTING (STAINLESS STEEL) WITH YOUR DUET 2 + DUEX (HELP)

      @Phaedrux

      Dear Phaedrux, how are you?

      1. Would you mind posting a link where you would have the indication of a product within this specification so that I can make the purchase.

I apologize, but like me, other users who are new to the DUET universe are not as familiar with products and components and we are grateful to share the generosity of colleagues like you when sharing their knowledge and time.

      1. In addition, I ask you to be kind enough to indicate some products necessary for the use of NEMA32 engines (high torque). Because the metal prints that I end up making are up to 15 kilos or more and I notice that the engines overheat a lot.

After the project is finished, I intend to post here step by step so that other people can use it.

      King Regards

      Fabio

@bearer said in METAL PRINTING (STAINLESS STEEL) WITH YOUR DUET 2 + DUEX (HELP):

Right, sounds like you need a little more than just a little boost that you could have achieved with a simple gear.
As far as gearing goes it will help with holding forces; using a worm gear will help the bed maintain the position when not driven even if you end up needing a stronger motor.
Anyways, there are a few people here with way more experience with larger stuff that will sure chime in, in due time.

      All help is welcome!

Could you tell me what type of gear you use or would use in this case. I am grateful if I could link a product so that I can make the purchase.

You might be able to gear down the z axis; odds are you don't need high speed and can trade some speed for some torque?

Dear Bearer, how are you ?

      It has several problems;

      1. What happens is that when the printing is finished the motors are de-energized. And the same printing goes down alone at high speed due to the weight of the piece that was printed (Weight reaching up to 12 kilos).

      2. The Z axes are responsible for the constant lifting movement, avoiding the spreading of metal by the printing nozzle. As the printing is done, the motors start to work with a lot of weight and this starts to generate gaps between the printed layers.

    • METAL PRINTING (STAINLESS STEEL) WITH YOUR DUET 2 + DUEX (HELP)

Hello everyone, how are you ?

I am new to the Duet universe and have little knowledge about step motors and would like help and guidance.

I own a TRONXY (Core XY) printer (500x500x600) I just threw all of its electronics away and did its reconstruction using Duet Ethernet + Duex5 + Titan Volcano + 1400w Heated Bed using SSR.

I made this printer to make prints on metal (stainless steel 314) using using filament from Basf.

However I am having a serious problem now, the printing table is getting heavy and the Z axis motors are not coping.

I thought about making an upgrade of these engines to NEMA23 and I would like, if possible, the indication of some engine model and the other accessories that I will need to do this (BOM).

I appreciate if you can help me.

      Thank you

    • HUGE 3D PRINTER (Z AXIS MOTOR PROBLEMS)

      Dear Friends,

I'm new to the 3D printer segment and would like your help.

I initially bought a TRONXY 500e (COREXY) printer with about 500x500x600mm, which is the beginning of my failure in the 3D universe.

After that I started to study about the best electronics and components for the 3D universe and I came to two brands DUET and E3D.

With that I applied several upgrades to my old Tronxy like; EXTRUDER, BED, MAINBOARD (DUET 2 ETHERNET + DUEX, LINEAR RAILS BELTS and 24V PSU, that is, it became another piece of equipment.

Today the equipment works, but it has some restrictions and problems.

The biggest problem I have today is that after making an impression I have to remove the piece from the bed (using a spatula) and when that happens the motors end up allowing the height of the Z axis to move and the entire calibration of the height and leveling of the BED with the print head is lost.

Today I have 2 independent motors on the Z axis (SL42STH60-1684A) and I thought about discarding these motors and using 4 x (Super Whopper Motor) to accomplish this task.

I say this because the glass plate I added as BED is about 3.0 kg and when I turn off the printer the bed comes down due to the weight of the glass.

I have no intention of changing the bed, as it was the flattest surface I have found so far.

I would like your help and guidance before buying 4 x (Super Whopper Motor) for my printer in addition to the indication of additional products needed in my configuration.

I appreciate if you can help me.

      Thank you

      Fabio

    • TRONXY X5ST-500 - covid19

I have an X5ST-500 printer where I used the frame and some parts to use with DUET2 Ethernet + Duex 5 + Titan Aero.

I am days trying to operationalize these printers to make protection masks against the virus and I am not getting it.

My configuration is COREXY, but when I try to start printing it shows an unevenness in one of the Z axes and automatically triggers the emergency stop.

In addition now it started to present some errors like:

Warning: motor phase A may be disconnected reported by driver (s) 4
Warning: motor phase B may be disconnected reported by driver (s) 4

If anyone can help thank you, here are my settings
