Hi there, I wondered if it is possible to open and close a switch instead of turning an extruder stepper motor on and off? This would be in order to open and close a solenoid valve, to operate a compressed air driven paste extruder print head. Instead of starting and stopping the extruder, the control board would open and close a switch, in order to energise the coil in a 24v solenoid valve. This would operate in a similar way to the ceramic paste extruder developed by UnfoldLabs in Belgium, back in the early days of RepRap, Bits from Bytes etc c. 2009. I think they used a spare output on the Bits from Bytes controller board, but then had to manually change the g-code. Thanks, Peter

Thanks Ian. If I were to go with the "in series" option, connecting the two Y axis steppers to the Z axis driver with two sockets, how would I deal with configuring voltage for the two motors in series? Would the voltage at the output of the driver need to be doubled? Thanks, Peter

I see you have been working with a Leapfrog 3D printer. I inherited a Leapfrog Creatr HS with dual extruders from a colleague. I am thinking of making the change to Duet3D. How did you manage the two stepper motors on the Y axis - did you just wire them in parallel? I am thinking of using the Duet 2 Ethernet or Duet Maestro board. Any help/advice you can give will be much appreciated as I am new to Duet! Thank you, Peter

I'm planning to upgrade a Leapfrog Creatr HS to Duet 2 Ethernet version.
This printer has two stepper motors on the Y axis. Is it possible to connect the Y two steppers in parallel to one of the outputs on the Duet 2, so I can use both of the extruder outputs for the printer's two extruders?
Anyone who has experience of converting a Leapfrog - please get in touch if you can offer any help/advice as I'm a beginner to Duet.

@PatCub Hi there - I also have a Leapfrog Creatr HS which I am thinking of converting to Duet3D electronics. Did you manage to overcome the heated bed issue you posted about? Also I was wondering if you used an auto bed levelling system such as BL Touch? Any help/advice you wish to share will be gratefully received. Peter
