    • RE: Can Cable from Tool Board to Distribution Board

      @dc42 agreed. My concern was the solid core wire in most twisted pair as it will be stressed in the constant movement of the print head. Trying to find a stranded twisted pair option but the available options are looking slim.

    • Can Cable from Tool Board to Distribution Board

      I am setting up the distribution board to connect to a tool board and have a couple questions:

      1. It says it needs 2 twisted pairs to go from the distribution board to the tool board. Do I use cat 6 twisted pairs or what wire should I use to go from the distribution board to the tool board?

      2. when using the distribution board with the tool board, is it still necessary to jumper the r120 pads on the tool board or is that only necessary when not using a distribution board.

      3. The wires used to feed power to the distribution board, do I use an output from the duet 3 6hc board or do I go straight from the power supply?

      4. The driver that runs the Nema motor output coming from the tool board, is it using one of the existing drivers on the 6hc board or does the tool board have its own driver built in?

    • RE: Duet3: Pi wont power On, 5 & 3.3v LEDs off

      @dc42 I have a raspberry pi 3 B+ with a Ethernet (rj45), wired usb mouse, Logitech c920 webcam, and hdmi.
      I’ll make sure to limit what I plug into the pi from now on. Never considered the overload factor.

      @bearer the tape came with the board. I thought that was odd too.

      @bearer @dc42
      Good eye, I didnt notice that the first time. And I searched for a while before started a forum post on here.
      I had been focusing on fuses though and completely glossed over the IC chip looking bits.
      It is a PIA to take a photo of but I put the utmost effort in trying to get a clean shot. I even leveraged my magnifying glass to get a better image lol

      @dc42 were you able to look at the photos? Am i able to process a warranty claim?

    • RE: Duet3 : 3-in-1 Printer Design Possibility

      @bearer A Duet 3 main without steppers and IO sounds like the exact direction that we need to go! Everything Expansion based and modular! I love the idea!

      EDIT: M505 sounds perfectly suited! Thank you for the suggestion.

      M505 P"config"
      M98 P"config.g"

      The first line changes the config file folder to /sys/config1 and the second one executes file config.g in that folder.
      To select an alternative configuration, only the first line needs to be edited."

      So MUCH can be done at the point, seperate MACROS written per frame being used and then its as simple as point and click after you fine tune it. The more I learn about DUET, the more I am glad I opted for it.

    • RE: Duet3 : 3-in-1 Printer Design Possibility

      There are many reasons why I would want to:

      • Cost effective (less boards to maintain / run and more money to go sensors and expansion boards)
      • Challenging / Fun
      • Space saving (3d printer on workstation table, large CNC in another underutilized room taking up more space)
      • Minimized maintence by not have 3 seperate PSU, 3 boards, 3 cases, etc

      The expansion boards should allow for alternate endstops, sensors etc via additional IO ports for other machines and then the config.g would point to which one to use: (thinking maybe an expansion board per frame)
      https://www.duet3d.com/Duet3Expansion3HC

      • 6 IO ports for endstops, probes, filament monitors and other sensors.
      • 3 Thermistor/PT1000 inputs and support for 4 PT100/thermocouple inputs via the optional daughterboards.
      • Support for a wide range of Z probes including DC42’s IR Z probe and the Duet3D Smart Effector for delta printers.

      The seperate room would be more like: drill a hole through shared wall from workshop to garage and workshop. Workshop side of wall has 3d printer against it and garage wall has CNC printer up against it on other side, so most likely a 1 meter(ish) run from Duet3 main and Duet expansion.

    • Duet3 : 3-in-1 Printer Design Possibility

      Hello, I got the Duet 3 so I could possibly have it control 3 seperate platforms (only one at once, unless its possible to have 2-3 machines running in addition by using expansion boards)

      My end goal would be to have a CNC, Laser, and 3D printer on seperate frames (maybe the 3D and Laser share a frame, etc)

      ButI would like to know if this is feasible and would I be able run different machines that use different stepper motors, endstops, etc.

      Basically use the Duet3 as a central hub/brain for all my frames and I run a single one at a time without needing to disconnect wiring or reflash the duet.

      Are there examples and or guides for such a thing?

      The reason why I say at least 2 seperate frames is because I most likely would want the CNC in a different room as it would likely be built on a much larger frame than the laser & 3d printer.

    • RE: Duet3: Pi wont power On, 5 & 3.3v LEDs off

      @bearer yes it was working for a short time. I got the board brand new from an authorized seller about 2.5 weeks ago.
      I turned it on today and noticed I couldn’t access duet3.local and that’s when I started my troubleshooting and saw the pi wasn’t powering on from Duet power.

      How do I get the Duet manufacturers involved in this? Warranty says I need to make a post on the forum. Do I need to tag them somehow?

      Internal-5V-EN jumpered,
      5V->SBC jumpered,
      SBC -> 5V NOT jumpered

    • Duet3: Pi wont power On, 5 & 3.3v LEDs off

      My Duet 3 partially powers on, but the Pi no longer powers On, Vfused & 12v+ lights up but 5v+ and 3.3v lights do not.

      If I Disconnect the Pi from the DUET3 and separately power the PI via a usb cable, it turns on and boots up to DuetPI linux.
      If I reconnect the PI and plug in the Duet3 via USB (from pc USB or USB power adapter), the Pi turns on and I can access DWC.
      Duet 3 will not power PI for some reason and the 5v & 3.3v do not light up unless I test as stated above.

      Very confused. Please Help!

      Any updates to this?> I have a brand new Duet3 setup and it is getting a 404 error when I try to upload from Slic3r. Is there a setup guide, do I need an API key? If so where do i find it?
