      Very nice! Only few centigrade off.

      @T3P3Tony originally we wanted to have the temp daughterboards attached to the extruder as well as an Arduino Nano for reading out them. The very same Nano controls also the LED color based on the average temperature. For time being we have to transfer the temp to the Duet and then the RGB signal back to Nano.

      Of course now we will have the option to adapt the temperature range of the LED color to the actual temperature set point, what makes this even better.

      Anyway, thank you very much! Now, it should be pretty safe to say that first prints are to be expected next week. Of course we will post videos πŸ™‚

      Ok, I found the issue.

      The steppers didn't work, because I had mapped all of the Duet drivers as extruders. Line 26 in our config. This is adopted from the Hangprinter config file.

      I assumed that the drive number reflects the E-number in the Duet 2 wiring diagrams, but seems that this not the case. So, deleting the E0:1:2 from line 26 made the magic happen πŸ™‚

      Extruder is now ready. Finally!

      But, then another issue surfaced. Again. It has nothing to do with Duet. One wire on our proto board had a bad solder joint and it got in contact with another pin (probably a power pin). The result was a fried Arduino Nano...

      Trying to get replacement today. Can't wait πŸ™‚

    • Can strain cause temperature fluctuation with PT1000 sensors?

      Just lately, during testing of our printer, I noticed temperature faults on two different PT1000 sensors of our pellet extruder. Since the sensor cables run over a length of 15 meters and since they hang from 4 meters height above the end effector, I started to wonder if occasional strain on the cables could affect the readings?

      The other option is a partially broken cable, but I rather do not believe this is the case since the cables are new and the printer has been in testing for just over three weeks now.

      Any experiences on this topic?

      Also, is it possible to route the sensor signals through a regular low-resistance wire without disturbing the reading too much?

      Btw, one strange behavior that I noticed was the M669 K6 command. If I put the drive settings before it, the drives won't work as expected. I assume this is due to the Hangprinter custom code.

      the steppers are speced at Phase Resistance: 1.13ohms

      The Nema23 has a phase resistance of 1.9 ohm (with the cable)
      And the Nema17 3.8 ohm

      @Veti The firmware is 2.02 RC4 based on TorbjΓΆrn Ludvigsen's Hangprinter firmware, but with additional customization by us. None of them affect the E drives though.

      Hi again

      We had already some success in our everlasting battle with our cable-driven 3D-printer. The temp sensors work now and we managed to PID tuning the heaters after a few tweaks. That's ok.

      Also our automated pellet dispenser works. The only thing still preventing us from extruding is the unresponsive extruder stepper.

      I checked that the wiring should be ok.
      Phase A & B are correctly wired on both extruder steppers. In case you wonder, we have the main Nema23 and a auxiliary Nema17 for pushing the pellets down the throat.

      Nonetheless we are seeing an error that phase A & B might be disconnected on drivers 0 & 1

      Could it be the stepper cable length (15m)?

      Yes, that was/is also our concern, but since we get pretty accurate readings on the duet on-board thermistor pins, I'm confident that the length will not be a problem.
