I have 3 duet boards (one a duet 2 wifi, and the two others Mini 5+) and all three have the same issue, and the issue persists across Windows and Linux platforms (also Android is almost impossible to keep connected). Here's how it goes...
- Printer is turned on.
- Browser is loaded up and IP address is entered, almost always a successful connection (and it's solid).
- Computer is turned off then back on, or restarted. (the duet kiss of death)
- Almost NEVER a successful connection when the browser is reopened.
Sometimes it fixes itself (with enough time)...
One time I had some type of minor stoppage (most likely a filament feed error) on the Duet 2 board and had the computer do a windows update overnight. No connection in the morning prior to the stoppage so figured I had lost the print when it happened... However, when I reopened the browser it actually came back on its own.
Usual solution:
-
I have to turn off the printer and then turn it back on, then go back to the computer and refresh the browser.
-
Android is always hit and miss, I usually don't even bother anymore, but I wish it worked.
I have an ASUS router and it does use a hybrid 5Ghz / 2.4Ghz Mode. Usually, the PCs connect in 5Ghz mode, but I don't know why this would really matter, as everything goes through the router. Also if it matters the printers are reserved DHCP, and I believe I have the address set in the configs too. (I'd check, but prints are in progress and I just had to reset... = )
- Going to sleep does NOT affect the connection, PC wakes up & printer is working in the browser.
- Simply closing the browser does not affect the connection, it almost always comes right back.
I'll post my related config details as soon as I can.
MANY MANY thanks to anyone who can help. I've been dealing with this for forever.
