The thermal image is of the board with only the supply connected, i will get grayjay to pursue warranty with the supplier and pass to me for connection this time.

@Phaedrux external temp is about 50C after 5mins on with nothing connected

Its warm to the touch, board is under a week old and has never seen service, as grayjay said worked one day was erased on next switch on.
Purchased from reprapworld.co.uk i think but grayjay can verify

I am GraJay's tech guru and also use the duet 2 wifi myself so this PCB arrived for me to look at.
Initial inspection the firmware had been lost and connection possible via only via Bossa, looked at sd card and bin files (date/size) suggested it was shipped with 2.03 the same as im using so reinstalled firmware.
now limits work, thermistors work,heaters work,wifi works but not one of the steppers will move reporting motor phase A/B maybe disconnected while trying to jog them after using M564 S0 H0 to disable the home.
Even recreated the config from scratch bit still the same its like the SAM is not talking to the stepper drivers.
