From the mesh image it looks like it's bowing UP not down.

Exactly. When the X axis bows down, the probe will trigger earlier which results in an elevated point
I would have expected a more "cylindrical" shape of the probing result, though.

Edit: As it seems to be a CoreXY, there would be bowing on the X and on the Y axis, which explains the result.

    • RE: How to Upgrade to 24V

Of course is 40W = 40W. The question is if you need to convert 24V to 12V first (which would result in a very beefy DCDC buck regulator). For 40W this would mean also a lot of heat produced in the regulator itself.

40W @12V means 3,33A. PLUS about 10W ("DCDC efficiency" is the point here, around 70-90% depending on the part)
      40W @24V = 1.67A

@garv3 said in How to Upgrade to 24V:

This means, if I use 24V+5V for the Duet, mains power for the heated bed, some 24V fans but a 12V Hotend with a 12V fan, I will have to use regulators for all 12V components and an SSR for the heated bed.

I would use a 24V hotend, as it draws much power (30-40W?).
Note that a DCDC would have to deliver at least 12V/3A just for the hotend, and would convert another ~20-30% into heat (about 6-9W if i'm correct) while doing its job.

    • RE: Dual PSU 12/24v

      @fizban
24V has many advantages for heaters (less current for the same power) and for the TMC stepper drivers (more headroom for their operation. I think Alex Kenis did a video on that, which I currently cannot find 😕 [1]).

The fans are controlled by TR1 / TR5 / TR9? which only connect the minus side of the fan to ground. [2]

If you need to stay with 12V fans you can, as I understand it, I would try it as follows (see wiring [3]):

      • connecting both grounds of the supplies together
      • connecting "POWER IN" to the 24V supply
      • remove the "V FAN A" / "V FAN B" jumpers. Imagine "VIN" and "5V" as outputs on these pin headers and "V_FAN_A" / "V_FAN_B" as inputs 😉
      • connecting the 12V supply to the middle pins ("V_FAN_A" / "V_FAN_B")

Note that I haven't seen the schematic of the board yet and am NOT fully sure about not damaging anything with this setup.
Especially, you should have a look at fuses, but as I suspect from [2], there aren't any...

    • RE: Buying Duet Maestro in EU.

      Moin,

I'm currently quite interested in the Duet Maestro, as it fits my Aluminium-Fisher better (e.g. Ethernet port) than the Duet Ethernet, and it's cheaper with still all the features I need. Main reason for throwing out the old 0.6 is stepper noise and upcoming software features+bugfixes for the Duet2 generation.

Are there any news from the TCT (25 - 27 Sep 2018) announcement of the maestro?
When will there be any way to order from Europe without customs (they're a pain here in Germany)?

P.S. Thanks a lot for your good work, T3P3Tony, dc42!
