Can you use an extruder stepper driver as an axis?
Hi all,
My printer was working previously with no real issues but i decided to muck around with the zaxis to try and get more ridigity. Long story short i managed to damage some cabling in the process, didn't notice until a pungent 'blue-smoke' smell filled the room. Lovely. I've tested by moving the motors to other drivers and seeing them work as intended; the stepper driver on my X axis appears to be burnt out (and i can't really blame it).I've seen that its possible to replace the driver using a heatplate and some other tools which i clearly don't possess; its also possible to use a breakout board style scenario and route to an external driver - i have a couple of options.
It has a second extruder driver which i'm never going to use, can i route the signal through that?

I'm now able to extrude plastic. That was a little tougher than i anticipated but have a position to launch myself from.

G28 homes the printer. If you send G28 from the console, does the printer home correctly?
Alrighty, seems things are a little odd when i run that command (whee, getting somewhere!).
To explain the behaviour; its a corexy printer, running g28 when;

the x/y endstops are triggered, only the z axis moves, homes normally and then stops.

The X endstop is triggered alone, y moves back into position & rattles in place (trying to drive) once endstop triggered

The Y endstop is triggered alone, x moves into position & rattles in place (trying to drive) once endstop triggered
It appears that those two endstops aren't stopping the x/y axis when g28 is run. Using the +10/-10 triggers however, the endstops are adhered to.

Please can you put that gcode on a file sharing site and then edit that last post to link to it instead of including all of it in that post. I am using a tablet and it would take me forever to scroll to the bottom of that post.
Does the G28 homing command complete before DWC says the print is complete? I am wondering whether something in your homeall.g file could be to blame.
I have updated the original post with a link to a paste site. The G28 command doesn't run or at least doesn't run fully. I'm not sure what order G28 actually runs in but i have heard a click (like the endstop un-triggering perhaps, or a relay potentially) prior to the print saying 'completed'. It all seems a little odd to me.

What would be the preferred slicer for this board? I'm not exactly sold on cura, it just appeared to be everywhere at the moment so i thought i'd give it a shot. I used to use Skeinforge, but i was looking for something a bit more straightforward…

I cut the other lines from the Gcode file - its my understanding it goes sequentially and never gets to the skirt anyway, so the issue would be up top. I can post the full file if desired - its just movements however.

I apologise in advance, this will be a rather lengthy post to give all of the information i believe is relevant. I'm going to break it into smaller sections so you're welcome to skip over whatever is not relevant to the issue.General / Issue Background
My Duet Wifi appears to be functioning as intended for the most part - i can move all axes, i can heat up heat bed and the stepping seems to be correct on all of them (or within tolerance at least). When i start a print, the system heats up the heat bed during the warmup phase, then heats up the hotend to the desired temperature. Both ht the correct temperature, as the first layer begins and it halts, says 100% complete Layer 1 of 198, Filament Usage 0.0mm of 1455.0mm. The Extruder has not moved at this time.See here: http://imgur.com/a/9mq8H for an example of what occurs at the point of failure. A couple of things to note, the alert triangle at the top dissappears almost immediately - to the point that i have never seen it before and was just obscenely lucky to get it in that particular picture. Furthermore, the gcode console has no alerts or warnings - http://imgur.com/a/n4wXA. This has made this a difficult issue to track down as there are effectively no warnings as to why this has occurred.

Purchased approximately 12 days ago - have never managed to get a print out of it. Have managed to extrude plastic and have it move around however, never cnc/automatically. Have had other issues along the way, but nothing too drastic.Running off an ATX power supply (12V).

Scratch this entire post, apologies, my board appears to be playing fine now. I plugged the connectors back in (after removing in the first step) and its not going crazy anymore.
I don't have a reason why, but its working. Apologies on that.

1. With the bed heater disconnected, does the bed heat LED turn on as soon as you apply VIN power to the board?
No, Light doesn't come on at all, unless heat bed is connected2. Do you have the bed heater connected directly to the bed heater output terminals, or some other arrangement?

I believe it is a prusa heatbed mk 2. Red, standard aluminium(?) platter. Quite old (6 years?). VIN voltage is 12V off a standard ATX PSU (quite literally pulled from my old ramps board into my new Duet Wifi.4. How long have you had the board? Your supplier may be prepared to replace it under warranty.
4 Days, though i imported it from England so its going to be difficult to do any sort of swap over. (I am Australian)Thanks for all the help thus far, seems like i'm looking at doing a changeover.

So a small update (i'm still trying to figure this out). I've flicked it on and tried to run it to 0, when that failed tried holding it at 60. It kept going well past 60 so i flicked it off.
I'm feeling like the FET on the board is suspect. Is there a way to bypass said FET and run it off E1; alternatively, whats the difficulty level in replacing the fet? I'm confident of my soldering skills but less enthused by causing more damage…

Heatbed Automatically Starting?
Hi Again!
I'm trying to avoid spamming up these forums by reading as much as possible but i'm finding myself struggling to get some information. That aside, i've got an issue with my heatbed.I've wired everything up now (once i had confirmed i could home all axes and generally that everything except heating worked), and have found that upon powerup, my heatbed starts. It rapidly approaches 60deg, at which point i decided this probably wasn't normal behavior and turned it off.
My first thought was that this was a short, so i've turned it off and looked it over, but haven't found anything which would normally suggest a short. Anyone experienced something similar? Have i botched something? I went over my config.g and didn't find anything of relevance to the heatbed specifically, i will attach below however incase i missed something.

Core XY Inverted Axis & Endstop Issues
Hi All,
Have built my 3d Printer (Hypercube - Core XY Design) and have been running it on RAMPs the last couple of weeks. All went well and i've got some decent calibration prints out of it. The printer itself is functional.I've just migrated my way over to the DuetWifi, and have been fiddling about with anything and everything i can find to get a handle on how it all comes together; I've found myself in a spot of bother however. These appear to function as intended; origin at front left of cube, +y is towards the rear of the cube, +x is to the right of the cube and their respective negative counterparts. This suggests that my motors are running as i'd expect them to.
I come along to the front page of the wifi control, click x+10, and y+10 triggers. As the code above (& the page) suggests that my motors are in their correct holsters, has anyone got an idea as to why that is the way it is? I'll attach my config below.
I have one further issue, this is to do with Endstops however. As above, i hit Y-100 and then trip my Y endstop by hand. The system does come to a halt but there seems to be a significant delay between the trigger occurring and the system actually stopping. My X carriage was able to move 50mm or so before coming to a stop, AFTER the endstop had triggered.
