@deckingman Why would the print be lost after 2 hours? Time is irrelevant in my case. As long as I can get the thermistor wire repaired so it can heat again I wouldn't have any issues.

I think I would focus on preventing it rather than fixing it. Use flexible silicone wiring and cable chains, replace wiring before it breaks based on past failures?

@bearer yes but I also want a backup in case it does happen. Rather than loosing it all together. Prevention is key but being able to pickup from where it left off would be nice.

Just to clarify are you talking about the hotend or heated bed here?

Would a notification help? There are some threads on the forum that deal with monitoring and alerting.

Notifications would be great didn't know that was a thing.

I haven't looked at it in detail, but most seem to monitor the serial port or poll the Duet over the network and use some sort of push notification etc. So an external microcontroller or raspberry pi would be needed.

Think this is one of the better threads, but if you search the forum you'll find more resources. https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/11088/notifications-upon-start-pause-finish-of-print

@bearer Which at that point I may as well setup repetier server and a camera as well. Use it's push notifications, webcam, print queue and whatever else I can utilize which eliminates the need for using a duet.

Heater fails - hot end cools - under extrusion starts - hot end continues to cool - extrusion stops altogether but print continues - filament gets chewed - then jams = ruined print.

@deckingman no heater fault happens quick enough none of that happens and then pauses. Which in a paused state I can correct the issue and resume.

@wdenker I'm sorry but you are making too many contradictory statements for me to have any understanding of what it is you want to do, or what you perceive the problem to be.
