Well new problems creeping up. Pin will not retract at start of print but print starts regardless.

I'm going to try a fresh install of firmware and start that from scratch to ensure updating did not cause any issues. What is the best method for this?

@jaurand Upload the firmware on the system tab of DWC and it should update automatically.

@Phaedrux that is how i've been updating firmware before. My thought is something did not stick right causing my issues. Hence why delete it all and start from a fresh build is my thought

Can you post your config.g, homeall.g, and your deployprobe.g and retractprobe.g files from the /sys folder?

@jaurand said in BLTouch V3.0 Reassemble:

                M558 P9 X0 Y0 Z1 H5 F100 T2000

Remove the X0 Y0 Z1 from this command. Those parameters are no longer used.

                G31 X0 Y0 Z3.467 P25

You're missing the X and Y offset between the nozzle and the BLTouch.

Neither of those should be show stoppers however.

All I can suggest at this point if you're 100% confident that your wiring is good, is to try switching to heater pin 3 of the expansion header instead of using heater pin 7.

You'll need to change the heater unbinding to reflect H3 instead of H7

                M307 H7 A-1 C-1 D-1 ; Disable the 7th Heater to free up PWM channel 5

And check config-override.g to remove any entry for H3.

As well as change the servo commands to target P3 instead of P7.

                  @Phaedrux I don't have config-overide.g is that a problem?

When I switched to H3 I get no response

I assumed you had a config-override.g since you have an M501 in your config.g to load it. It's fine if you don't have it thought. It just means you haven't used M500 to save any PID tuning values.

@Phaedrux ah yes since I typed my values directly in.

So since H3 doesn't work is that a bigger problem?

I'm still inclined to think it's a wiring issue.

Can you make up a brand new very short wiring harness to test with?

I have had many instances lately of the push pin breaking off many times as well as unresponsiveness from the BLTouch itself.

It could also be a bad probe. Perhaps time to get another to try?

@Phaedrux well I do have three BLTouch, two V3 and one version 2. I'll try some wiring and see what I get.

in the first post you showed heater pin 7

@Veti the first post was what started off using. For troubleshooting purpose Phaedrux recommended using heater 3 to test.

@Phaedrux turns out I have two bad BLTouch V3.0. Wired V2.0 up to heater pin 3 and new wires and it started the self test at start up. Attached V3.0 to the new wires on heater 3 and nothing, but it did turn on. Put on the old wires and V2.0 works just fine and again V3.0 nothing. Too bad they only have a 30 day warranty on them.....

Looking at the high percentage of bltouch threads in this forum, I just wanna confirm @Veti’s statement: Z-probe designs like his one or this here are really good for happiness. Following the inherent principle, I built a similar probe and never had any trouble since then. If you know how to attach a cheap servo to the Duet, there’s definitely no need to increase the number of such threads towards infinity 👁

@infiniteloop I agree. Bltouch sounds great on paper but the headache they are to put together and just to get working correctly doesn't justify in my opinion. My second printer I'll be looking at doing something different than BLTouch and will look at this design.
