@mkrsjak said in Duet won't boot problem:

only the blue VIN diode is on

fuse or 5v regulator died, check fuse then the chip labeled U3 and in general:

Fuses are intact, how can I check the U3? Visually it looks ok.

the 5v LED that isn't on is the second best indicator; if the fuse is okay and you don't get a 5v led u3 isn't working (possible but less likely one of the small diodes around u3 can fail, usually as a cascade failure i think).

in any case if you don't have a 5v led and nothing is connected (like paneldue or zprobe etc) then odds are something is damaged.

Does anything get hot? Does it work if powered from usb?

I took a microscope and the u3 is indeed damaged.
Is there any guide how to replace it? And what is actually the part number? 🦆

any guide to rework of a QNF chip will do, but you will need proper preheating as the board is 2oz copper, and has 4 layers where 3 are most ground planes.

            Part is a A4403GEUTR

could be worth noting it may be covered by the manufacturers warranty if the board is less than 6 months; unless its caused by a short in wiring or other external factors.

@bearer The board is more than 1 year old. I thought we have EU warranty 2 years, but apparently not.

that could be something to ask your vendor about; I would have consumer protection rights if purchased locally even if the manufacturer says 6 months but I can't speak to your local rules; and it would be a matter for the vendor, not the manufacturer.

I found this one, seems to be within fast shipping reach.

Looks like the correct one. (but you will need a hot air station, a preheater/hotplate and some good flux as well)

just be carefull with the surrounding parts, shield with kapton or alu tape (don't take the paper backing off the alu tape, it makes a mess (when very hot))

to add on Tonys reply; usually the last few numbers/letters refer to packageing, both in terms of which package it is (qnf, qft, bga sop etc) and how its packaged, tape, tray, tube etc; and the details are usually in the datasheets. (I posted the variant that is commonly available as "cut tape" in low quantity)

I was something else wrong with the board. The U3 gets fried again, even with no connections except the power IN.
I will buy a replacement, but really not see a point buy from duet with only 6months of warranty. This should be fixed in general.
Even shoes and heavily wearing products have 2 years. Shame.

Sorry to hear you've had an unfortunate hardware failure and were unable to resolve it. The warranty provided can be reviewed here: https://www.duet3d.com/warranty

Unfortunately you're out of the warranty period it would seem. However, we may be able to provide you with a refurbished board at a reduced price on exchange. Please contact roland@duet3d.com to inquire about current availability.
