I whipped up a couple of brackets to mount the duet3 under the print bed of my delta printer. In that sense, it's really not enclosed at all.

I was thinking about designing and printing brackets and then I remembered I had a pile of acrylic glass left over from another project. The cover for the high voltage connections is my first hand formed acrylic... took several tries and isn't very sexy but it gets the job done.

I have alot more upgrades planned... sucks that this world wide lock-in has caused the majority of my part orders to be canceled or delayed.

I feel the need to add cooling I just haven't figured how I want to do it though. I also have not printed it yet.

@CCS86 I presume that PSU is heavily modified? The fans tend to exhaust in that location and you've got the fan blowing in?

@CCS86 ...but since you suck ( ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ) you could consider adding fan filters so dust doesn't clog up the back side of the duet. Nice fan ducting though, food for thought! ๐Ÿ™‚

That's not a duet3 ๐Ÿ˜‰ ... pretty nice looking enclosure anyway. I was debating between plywood and acrylic for my baseplate.

It isn't modified besides the fan replacement. The original fan also blew into the power supply like this, but it was loud. Most axial fans are setup to blow through, not pull.

I could, but I'm not too worried about it. There is nothing to "clog up" on the back side of that PCB.

But the same concept applies, regardless of the board.

@CCS86 there's no pattern to it. I've got your power supply and indeed it does suck in.

Remixed a case for the Duet 2 that I found quite good. It provides ample natural cooling, cable access and the lid swings out of the way. Also includes mounts for a 92mm and 40mm fan, even though fans are not necessary if using typical NEMA 17 steppers.

You can't "suck in". It is "blowing in" regardless of whether the fan is mounted flush to the inside or outside of the enclosure.

@CCS86 you're being pedantic, I am merely indicating direction.

Anyhow whats the problem? I was merely saying even with one manufacturer the airflow direction isn't consistent. Hence my original confusion with the direction of your fan.

Planning to install a Pi once DSF is a little more stable. Curious what pins you connected from the D3 to the Pi. Interested in only using whatโ€™s necessary and leaving the rest for future GPIO.

@mwolter check out the schematics. The required connections are listed there. If you supply an isolated external 5v (negating need for the +5V cores) to the Pi I'm not sure if it would be possible to save on a few of the negative connections too.

Edit: if you do use an external supply for the pi ensure the dc negative isn't directly linked to earth as you could set up an earth loop with considerable current if your main psu is earth tied.
