Extruder temperature problème
-
Hi, I made a custom 3d printer with duetwifi 2 years ago and then use it with no problem. But since 2 weeks, my printer start to read extruder temperature not the way it did. I've got a genuine duet wifi, I think 1.04 with 2.01(RTOS) fw, 1.21 wifi server and 1.22 web interface. My extruder is a genuine E3D V6 12V. Now, when I heat up the extruder, it start to reach the temperature and sundenly drop 10 to 20°C but keep rising with this offset for a moment and sudenly adjust it to the real value (see attached image). When it reach the print temperature, somtime, it's stable ( +/- 1°C), sometimes it drop for 30 seconds then srop to the reel value. I assume that duet try to compensate that.
What are you thinking aboutt my story? -
I received the new thermistor. Everything seem's to be ok now. Thanks to everyone who tried to help me!

Sudden drops like that could indicate intermittent connection in the wiring. Have you taken apart your harness and inspected the cables and tested continuity?
-
I did inspect the cable and nothing seems to be wrong. This phenomen arrive also when the printer doesn't move. Sould I test it whit ohmmetre?
-
If it is intermittent connexion, the temperature should go to infinite value, and not drops down, isn't it?
-
Is it possible the sensor itself is loose? The wiring could be intermittent, but usually that results in reading extremely low temperatures, and much more erratic behavior. If the thermistor is in intermittent thermal contact, it could cause small jumps like this.

Cable seems to be ok, and thermistor is not loose (it is the cylindrical e3d v6 sensor)

I'd hook up an ohm meter at the Duet end and work your way up the cable flexing it at every point to be sure. I'd do the same for the heater wiring. I just caught one this way a couple weeks ago.

I'll try asap.thx

So, I tried hook up ohm meter on thermistor cable (board side) after my extruder reach 200°C, resistance rise linearly and suddenly drop too. I did the same without the cable (thermistor side), exact same result. I think my thermistor is dead. (please, ask if you don't understand my poor english )

I had the same problem last week
The problem was in the e3d connector. I replaced it and the temperature was back to normal. -
I removed the connectors and soldered, exact same problem. I will now wait untill E3D open and send a new one

Hi,
How can I mark this post as "solved"? -
