wiring an external Estop button to one of these avalable pins ?
-
i have the Duet Expansion Breakout Board. with a couple of empty pin headers:
heater6_pwm pins
*gnd
*+5v
*H6_pwm (pin 23 )And
E6 is also blank:
*Step+
*Step-
*Dir+
*Dir-
*En+
*En-on the board E0 ( all3 pins are free)
can any of the above pins be used to connect an estop button too, and also with the alarm+ and alarm- pins on the external drivers..
so if for any reason when the external stepper driver goes to an alarm and stops, the drivers alarm is NO or NC ( configurable ) this signal is connected to the same pin as the mechanical estop button , and when triggered , halts the print and shuts things downhow do i configure the estop button?

i have E1STOP pin set up as the input
when triggerd the led on the board works
but nothing happens.
this is in the config.g:

I did a small write up on external triggers. https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Using_M581_-_External_Triggers_and_Building_a_Control_Panel
I think at the time, the duet asked for confirmation on estop so triggering it externally wasn't doable but I think they've fixed that so it should work now.

I looked at your write up on External Triggers, but got a little confused on converting it to version 3.1 .
I got a lost on the alphabet soup of version 3.1 do you use p , h , j etc .
So if you have upgraded you could do a version 3.1 example too. -
stupid question I know , but what version of the firmware are you on ?
; External Triggers M950 J0 C"!^e0stop" M950 J1 C"!^e1stop" M581 P0 T1 S1 R1 ; M581 P1 T3 S1 R0 ;
These are my triggers which work.
The first is connected to the filament run out and the second a switch , both switches are normal open and trigger on closed switches .
Trigger 3 macro just is a resume button. -

You are on the version 3.1 of the config.g , but what version of the firmware are you on ? use M122
M122 === Diagnostics === RepRapFirmware for Duet 2 WiFi/Ethernet version 3.1.1 running on Duet WiFi 1.02 or later Board ID: 08DGM-95BLL-N6PSS-6JTD6-3SJ6K-K0UZJ Used output buffers: 3 of 24 (17 max)
But if you are on version 3 of the firmware and config.g try adding the !^ which is pull up and invert .
