      I am going to add two of the BigtreeTech S42B Closed Loop Stepper motor addons to my Custom CoreXY 3D printer.

      https://github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-S42B-V1.0

      https://www.biqu.equipment/products/bigtreetech-s42a-42-stepper-motor-closed-loop-driver-board-with-oled-display

      I have a DuetWifi with an Duet Expansion Breakout Board

      My current Config setup for the motors is the following.

      ; Drives
      M569 P0 S0                                      ; physical drive 0 goes backwards
      M569 P1 S0                                    ; physical drive 1 goes backwarsa
      M569 P2 S0                                       ; Z physical drive 2 goes backwards
      M569 P3 S1                                       ; Extruder physical drive 3 goes Forwards

          S42b - duet bob
          Dir -> dir +
          Step -> step +
          En -> En +
          Gnd -> gnd
          5v -> 5v +
          24 -> 24v + on power supply

          Is this correct?

            Just out of curiosity why are you going to do that?

            Everything I have read says there is no reason to do so.

            Thanks.

                I found bunch of "tests" showing they are not precise (moire patterns worse then bad motors on microstepping) but I found also ppl saying they are awesome and that all their artifacts are now gone... so I ordered 4 drivers (only drivers no motors), attached to my own motors and now am thinking about good test jig to test how accurate they are ... will see if I'll attach some super high precision encoders or go another way about them.. but in any way more ppl testing them the better, the hal sensor precision is not bad and the software is not that hard to write for that so in theory they should be very good... (so far I just turned them on and I don't like the sound I hear but let's see if I manage to make some test during NY holidays)

                    You will damage the expansion breakout board with the driver connected like that. Disconnect the driver 5V common pin from all 3 pins on the breakout board. Connect it to 5V+ on one of the servo connectors on the breakout board instead.

                      Servo connectors? Do you mean the 5v+ on the Two Heater6&7 areas?

                            Still not right:

                            • Leave the breakout board Step+, Dir+ and Enable+ not connected to anything (and not connected to each other)
                            • Connect +5V from the breakout board to COM on your driver

                                I'm doing the simplest thing possible

                                DIR -> GND
                                EN -> GND
                                GND -> GND
                                VM -> 12V
                                5V -> 5V
                                STEP -> 0-5V gpio

                                and darn thing won't move ?!?! loosing my hair for 2 days already

                                  I don't mean to be Captain Obvious, but do you have the system configured for enable=low?

                                  It looks like it can be set to either.

                                  Also, do you have both power supply grounds connected together and to GND on the servo?

                                          tried both !Enable and Enable configuration for the good measure, no help

                                          yes

                                          Also tried 1234 dip's as 1111 (default, first two are what I understand microstepping, third is open/closed control and fourth is write enable for calibration), 1100, 1101, 0000, 0011, 0001 ... no change

                                          at one point I got it to "turn" but was going into "error" after few steps but most of the time it just won't turn at all ... wasted too much time with it I'll try a second driver and a second motor to be sure but I'm moving with my testing to other systems 😞 I think this one was just not meant to be
